I always thought it was, "Truth, Justice, and lots of American Babes." I'm saddened, now.

I'll probably go see it because my friends will drag me there, but I've never liked Superman. He's just one big over-wanked chump.

I enjoyed it alot. I reminds me that I need to buy Superman and Batman the animated series on DVD.

The trailer for Spider Man 3 blows my mind though.

I love the discussion about Superman.

He's gay!
He's anti-/pro- American!
He's Liberal!
He's Republican!

He's a comic book character, that's what he is. He is whatever he needs to be to move the nominal plot along, and whatver sells comic books at that time.

This reminds me of the whole Episode 3 has political commentary on Bush.

Re: Superman eschews longtime patriot act

Just got back from the movie. By "summer movie" standards it's excellent. If you liked the original Superman movie, you're pretty sure to like this one. I haven't seen the original Superman in 15 or more years, but seeing Superman Returns brought a lot of memories back about the original. I won't say any more to avoid any spoilers but it was better than I'd anticipated - especially the first half of the movie.

I would prefer it if he took on a more universal "for humanity" role rather than "the american way". I never really liked the nationalistic version of superman.

Re: Superman eschews longtime patriot act

I heard that this movie wasn't too terrific, and the trailers never excited me one bit. It seemed to try to wow me with simple stuff, eg The generic "Wonderment" music, showing "Superman" with alot of extra flare, and a bunch of other stuff that seemed like the movie was saying "Look! It's Superman! You should be amazed for that reason alone!". And his eye stopping the machine gun bullet is just major overwankage.

Batman 4evar!
