Naked performance with dead pig branded "sick" - Page 2

ROFL.. Don't mess with my photogs now.. Mapplethorpe is WONDERFUL don't get me started. I had the priv of being educated as a photographer at the #3 school in the U.S. for photo at the time.. (#3? Hey, I could afford it!).. and I worked at a #1 art school for 5 years. I'm not bragging here.. it's just the way it was.

Now.. why is the pig and the nude art? Because it just is.

And remember.. a photo of a performance art piece is just that, it is out of context for the intent of the piece as a photo is just that, a photo you can't say you experienced the intent of the exhibit unless you were there.

Wanna get freaked out (if you have a weak concept of art).. meet Matthew Barney.

Well, we are not saying that as a photographer he wasn't good. Quite to the contrary. But just because he is a good photog does not mean he wasn't offensive at time. By all accounts Ted Bundy was a very smart man. He sure was as offensive as hell

. It is a copout to say that something is art "just because it is." We recently had an inmate at work who would constantly masturbate in his cell. I should have sold tickets as performance art.

Cing, I looked at that sign and I couldn't navigate it correctly. I didn't see anything that was shocking at all. What am I missing. I tried your link too but it doesn't work for me.

I was editing my last post for a while to get the url directly to the Qucktime movie. It should work now.

Initially, I thought the performance was to have the pig die during it (which I do have a problem). As it is now, the actor is simply holding an alreay dead animal. Would PETA make the same complaint if she is holding a "T Bone" steak? Perhaps, lol. I think cutting the throat is how they turn a cow in to hamburger.

Right, but I don't understand why you would have a problem if the pig was killed during the performance, or if it was killed a few minutes before the performance... What's the difference?

They would have the same complaint, but they wouldn't waste time publicizing it because it's not as shocking to begin with...

I know we rented it from Netflix once.

My wife was friends with him in High School and used to visit him in New York.

Really? Odd that he's not selling it on his site. He's selling the CDs, but not the DVD? Just "The Order", which is only 31 minutes from Cremaster 3.
