I agree. Some people may think they are helping but often times if they don't have any medical training they may do more damage.

Re: Next time you get pulled over for speeding,

You know what's also a good idea, when you're speeding and a cop catches you, pull over!

Back home in upstate NY, we had an incident several years ago where a driver was speeding and a cop caught him. Instead of pulling over, he started driving faster. I don't remember the exact numbers (and several years ago + upstate ny = not on the internet), but they were going over 100 miles an hour when the speeder lost control of his car and crashed into a restaraunt. The speeder was killed, but no one else was injured.

The stupidity of the whole thing was made even worse when the family of the deceased later sued the cop for pursuing him, arguing that if the cop didn't pursue, he wouldn't have reached such speeds and crashed.

Honestly, I feel sorry for these guys. That said, I still drive 80 on the way to work. But then again I live in massachusetts, so I'm going pretty slow.

Yes!

I don't think running from the police produced the desired results for this guy:

**WARNING** Somewhat graphic. No blood or gore, though.

Oh yea, if anyone else has more crashes or worse ( ), pm me the links.
If you're interested in morbid videos and photos, there's an entire newsgroup dedicated to them. Very interesting. I haven't followed it in years, but it used to be fairly mature. A couple of immature fools, but mostly intelligent conversation on morbid subjects. Obviously a lot of dark humor, too...

I don't even remember the name of the group, though. It had the word grotesque in it. alt.binaries.pictures.grotesque?

Re: Next time you get pulled over for speeding,

I am not a mean bastard normally, but anyone that disregards road laws and drive in a reckless manner deserve whatever they get.

The only sympathy I have in these cases are to innocent victims who get hurted by these idiots.

Re: Next time you get pulled over for speeding,

i tell you what, when i ever break down on a motorway, i always get everyone out of my car, and right up to the top of the embankment next to the road... i tell you what, i have had people complain, whine bitch and moan, because its raining cold, hardwork for no reason.

but i tell you what, seeing that only confirms my fears in rhis situation.... some people, especially at high speeds just have no consideration or knowledge of stopping distances...

my brother will quite hapily drive to speeds of 120 mph on a regular basis, yeah im guilty of taking a new car to its limits on a deserted motorway just to see how far it will go, but the rest of the time i stay to the law, you have to have respect for the road, these guys clearly do not. i feel sorry for the guy who owns the van... i just lost a vehicle to someone who was not looking... (my scooter if anyone recalls last october) and i recieved less money than i paid for it on insurance... if i didnt make a tidy sum on personal injury (like $4000) i would be pissed...

Not trying to stir the pot but weren't you the one that blasted people for being reckless and unsafe drivers and weren't you the one that blasted me when I mentioned that driving above the speed limit was not necessary reckless driving?

I apologize if you weren't the one

absolutly i was, i was totally wreckless (is that the right spelling for that word in this context... i dunno) but you advocated speeding all the time because thats what the flow of traffic was doing... i said you take a car out on an empty motorway and test it to the limits once... there is a difference at least in my mind... and i dont pretend to be no angel, i stick to the limits unless on very very rare occaisions when i break the law, and i still see it as being stupid and wreckless... i am no angel.. honest.

Actually, I never advocated speeding all the time as you mentioned.

If I remember correctly, I said that speeding by itself was not reckless. I pointed out that speeding on an empty freeway on a sunny day was not dangerous, but driving the speed limit and tailgating other drivers or swerving into lanes was.

At no time did I ever say that someone should speed because of the flow of traffic.

Man, I heard about that on the news earlier. It's crazy, I heard the guy driving the car is like 100% fine though.

Re: Next time you get pulled over for speeding,

Saw this a long time ago and have been looking for it to share with TG. I just saw it at the Shark vs. Octopus site:

http://thatvideosite.com/view/108.html

The police are using the PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) stop and are doing them perfectly, but this guy is either a skilled driver or is just getting lucky. The original video that I saw showed about five minutes previous to this video where the stolen car was driving very recklessly...

Oh, yeah, and a little bit of Necromancy!

Re: Next time you get pulled over for speeding,

I'd vote that he's at least semi-skilled. To be able to switch from drive to reverse (or at least neutral) and back again so fast is the only way I can think that the car didn't die. From all I've heard, the PIT maneuver is supposed to kill the car, not just spin it out.
