Where else you supposed to put the name? One is on the left side of the shirt and the other on the but so they can see you coming and going.

I have two theories about this. One is so that you can get yelled at from either side. The other so that they know who is floating in the water without have to turn the body over.

Edit-- And you have to be talking about the officers uniforms. Bellbottoms cannot be cool no matter. And the covers are absolutly ridiculus.

I reality it is probably just to make laundry day easier.

Dungarees are a thing of the past, BTW. As is the dog dish cover for the work uniform. Squids still look secksie in their dress blue crackerjacks, though...
