Mid-term Election Commercials

Okay its getting really close to that time, like 4 weeks close. I have no clue who the Ohio candidates are for this election coming up. Well wait i know who they are but have no clue what they want to do or represent. All i keep seeing is slander ads going back and forth at each other.

Not a single ad has actually said what a candidate wants or does. Has anyone else noticed that? Or my favorite is they give you facts about something but leave out a time frame in which those facts are relevant. Seriously these commercials aren't helping the voters actually determine who to vote for.

Re: Mid-term Election Commercials

Yeah, it's beyond silly at this point. No one will come out and say what they stand for or what their ideas are for improvement but they're happy to run the mud slinging ads at their opponents.

Like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EB2gR_O5z8

and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBZxuNoRPEo ?

Obviously I don't see these on TV over here. As far as I can tell, when our elections come around usually there isn't a great deal of tv commercial attacks on the opposition. Maybe that's just me being ignorant but I've only seen a couple of attacks like that over here.

Re: Mid-term Election Commercials

Dear forum users:
When linking to a YouTube video, at least give me an inkling of what it is I'm about to see (factually; what's "bad" for you might be "nausea-inducing" for me).

Thank you,
pokerface

Re: Mid-term Election Commercials

Before the last election we had an ad in a state senate race where one candidate essentially accused his opponent of refusing to cure a little boys cancer (he's an anesthesiologist) and sending his family to the poor house. I couldn't find a video of it, but this is an excerpt from the subsequent lawsuit:
Quote:
The thirty-second ad begins with an image of Douglas and Vicki Kuehl and their sons, nine-year-old Taylor and five-year-old Slater, in their living room. The bottom of the screen reads, “Paid for by Democratic funds with regulated funds authorized by Ed LaForge for State Senate.” A visual overlay reading “Tom George won’t accept Blue Cross” appears midway through the ad. A woman’s voice narrated the following: Vicki and Doug Kuehl thought insurance would cover treatment for their youngest son, Slater’s brain tumor, but Tom George’s medical clinic wouldn’t accept Blue Cross. The Kuehls had to pay out of pocket or find new doctors. Now they face bankruptcy. All because they wanted the best for Slater. Mrs. Kuehl says, “I don’t understand why Tom George wouldn’t want our family to be provided for.” The narrator’s voice ends the advertisement with the comment, “If Tom George wouldn’t help Slater, how can we count on him in the State Senate.”

Re: Mid-term Election Commercials

The Vernon Robinson ad is pretty disturbing. He ends with the line "[I approve of] traditional American values" and then it cuts to a scene from Leave it to Beaver. You know, the Korean War era escapist fantasy sitcom? From the pre-civil rights era, when Mr. Robinson was a second-class citizen? Does he really approve of that? Weird. Ironic.

Re: Mid-term Election Commercials

Here's one for Massachusetts governor. This is an "anti" Deval Patrick ad (democrat/socialist). This guy is a true scumbag, one of the old Clinton era cronies who has a strong track record of "criminals rights". Have yet to talk to a cop (or any rational voter) who is voting for this absolute piece of crap.
