Zucker makes parodies. I see no reason, or evidence, to view this any differently. If this is what I think it is, it's genius.

As for political leanings, he's signed on as the producer for the untitled Onion movie. I happen to have a draft copy of the script. It's extremely hard core, above and beyond anything that Parker and Stone have produced. No right-winger would ever touch this film, and I suspect that some may take serious issue with its eventual release.

I just listened to a podcast with David Zucker where he's quite clear about not supporting the Democrats anymore. It's an interesting interview, I think, especially toward the end, and I have a lot of respect for his position: namely, that political parties change, and it's often more important to stay loyal to a particular policy you agree with than who is supporting it.
