Funny stuff. I love south park for the very fact that it pushes social norms. Because they attack/joke about anything and everything equitably, I can really enjoy their humor without wondering about an agenda.
In my opinion this particular show did nothing to insult Mr Irwin, but instead nicely handled the "Its too soon" social norm while still poking some fun at the unusual death of this celeb.

Ferris Bueller

When I was in college at the University of Colorado, Parker and Stone came and gave a big lecture one day. I attended and listened. these two guys are brilliant. They dont do stuff like this JUST to be funny. They very carefully and repeatedly pointed out the underlying theme of "this is just television, and if you're not mature enough to understand that its slapstick humor and not poking jabs at people, then you should stick to cnn." I salute that. People are so fond of defending their first amendment rights, yet when someone does something that they dont agree with or find offensive, they do everything they can to trample that persons rights.

Sure, Steve Irwin died, and it was tragic. But you know what, I havent seen anything from his family complaining about how horrid the skit was. If south park chose to make fun of me, seeing as it's one of the most watched television programs on earth, i dont care if they had me getting it on with an elephant, i'd still enjoy the humor and appreciate the name boost.
