Undoing Debaathification in Iraq

Iraqi draft law could reinstate most Baathists

This story has been overlooked because of the US elections, but I think it'll be getting more attention in the coming days and weeks. It's a good story. Rumsfeld/Bremer's CPA-created debaathification order was a tremendous mistake in its sweeping generalization, and gave a tremendous boost to both the collapse of Iraqi public infrastructure and the development of the Iraqi insurgency. While some may find this debatable, the debate seems to be settling as reality of the future of Iraq sets in.

This is good news from Iraq on many levels.
