Re: Is it Graffiti or Tagging?

There was this guy in NY called the purple man. He only wore purple and he had a long white beard, like a purple santa. He took an abandoned lot that looked like stalingrad and made it into the most beautiful garden. He started an after school program for kids and he went behind horse and buggies in central park topick up manure. So one day a developer came along and made a deal with the city to build a high rise. They tore up the garden. A few months later the deal fell through and the project was abandoned. He never rebuilt his garden. For years after there were these painted purple footsteps all over the city. They were on side walks, inside subway stations, subway cars, inside parks, you could fallow them for miles. They would go up and down the sides of some of the fanciest hotels on centralpark south. Sometimes 40 or 50 stories. No one could figure out how he was doing it. I'm glad they never caught him. I think he died in the late nineties.

Do you remember Bean Man? He or she was an artist in the early 90's that spray painted this small character that looked like a bean with legs on street corners throughout NYC.

I remember trying to find them in the city, going from corner to corner looking at the sidewalk.

I remember the been man. Do you remember the upside down martini glass with the three sevens that were crossed out below it? I found this article about the guy.
