Re: Male Birth Control

On a serious note, the reason I did get the vasectomy because they say that if a woman has prolonged exposure to birth control it exponentially increases her chances of cervical cancer. That is a huge factor.

Now what happens in 5 years when clinical studies than show similar things about something like testicular cancer for men who took this pill?

Re: Male Birth Control

Keres makes quite a point when considering such methods would annihilate conventional STD spread protection methods. Do we really want this for our sexually explorative youth?

For those of you who are not familiar with what a "dry orgasm" is, it simply means that the male doesnt ejaculate upon climax. The sensation is still there, but nothing is released.
Sorry, that's the deal breaker for me right there. First of all, even on the pill (some) women can still ejaculate fluid. For a male that's like taking away half of the experience (and really, how would that be fair?). I do like the idea of a male pill, but in my eyes it would be ideal if it just made you shoot blanks instead. Sort of like a chemical vasectomy, but only temporary. Until they are able to make it like that, a condom is still the imperfect way to go (and protecting you from diseases to boot), or female birth control.

Regardless, they would need to come up with one hell of a marketing campaign to sell a "Dry orgasm pill". I cringed when I read that, it just sounds painful. Nails on chalkboard painful.

You just have to stick with things that don't result in babies so you don't have to take this pill. I hope that Tomorrow is an honored holiday in Australia as well.

As the father of two kids conceived while birth control was used, I'd favor anything that prevents babies from being accidentally made. Insurance + daycare for two = $15.000 a year.

If that's not incentive to double up on your protection kids, I don't know what is.

Have you tried Match.com? That might help you with your problem.

After the first time, you really should have given up on those mexican-made condoms. They just don't have the best quality control.

Re: Male Birth Control

That's exactly why this is good. I have heard of many women I know getting pregnant while "on birth control." Riiiight. So I'm supposed to believe they were religiously taking the pill and that many woman are part of the .001 percent odds? Bad thing with the pill, male or female, is that you skip one day or not take it on time, then you're not safe for the day or maybe a couple days. I didn't even trust my wife when she was on it. She would forget every once in a while, so I'd have to ask beforehand. If she forgot, then forget it...I'm being extra cautious.

Now that men will have the option, though, we can not blame the women anymore. Now the man can take charge with his own virility. Shweet. Time for a men's lib rally. Let's burn our whitie-tighties in D.C.!!! It can be like that burger king commercial...

Taking the pill every night is a pain, much less having to remind your g/f \ wife when she forgets (or I forget). The new patch they have out is the best (assuming you don't have problems with it), you only have to put it on one day a week and it lasts the whole week.

Maybe eventually they'll be able to make a pill that will last a week at time instead of daily, for men or women?

The risk is far higher than that though. 0.1% when used correctly.

Male or female doesn't matter, if you're having sex without taking precautions of your own, you're really trusting your partner or the makers of the contraceptive far too much.
