Not Quite the "Handy Manny" They Thought
Wow.
http://www.mickeynews.com/News/Displ...Q_id_E_527Porn
Some New Jersey tots got an adult education Tuesday when a cable TV giant replaced a Disney cartoon with hardcore pornography.
The Handy Manny cartoon on Playhouse Disney was abruptly interrupted Tuesday morning when Comcast honchos mistakenly aired the porno in sections of New Jersey.
"What are they doing?" a 5-year-old boy asked his parents when an explicit sexual scene showed up on his TV screen.
The boy's father, Paul Dunleavy, was appalled.
"It was two people doing their thing, it was full-on and it was disgusting," said Dunleavy, who asked that his son not be named. "It wasn't something you'd expect to see on Cinemax, never mind Disney."
Disney's Playhouse features animated shows with content geared toward children ages 3 to 6. The boy had turned on the Disney Channel while his mom cleaned another room.
"If you can't feel safe letting kids watch the Disney Channel, what can you do?" asked Dunleavy, a father of three from Middletown, N.J.
"I couldn't believe it. We try to do the right thing to protect our kids from this stuff, and then they broadcast it on children's TV," Dunleavy said.
"My wife was like, Oh, my God.' She was shocked."
Comcast spokesman Fred DeAndrea confirmed the programming error took place, saying the mistake was made by his company, not Disney.
"We had an isolated issue in a local New Jersey facility, we immediately detected the issue and it was corrected promptly," he said in a statement.
"We apologize to any customer who experienced it and continue to investigate the root cause of it."
Comcast chiefs also were investigating why the X-rated action was not screened out by parental controls on TV sets.
Dunleavy, who only had the Disney Channel added to his cable package a couple weeks ago, received an apology directly from Comcast.
But he said, "My son was extremely upset because he thought he'd done something wrong, and we're hoping what he saw doesn't become an issue for him.
"If he asks about it, we'll have to find a way to discuss it with him.
"But I'm speechless. I try to protect my kids from a lot of things, but I wouldn't have thought Disney would become one of them."--------

Wow...crazy! The father doesn't seem to get that it wasn't Disney's fault though even after getting an apology from Comcast saying it was their fault, not Disney.
I also find this quote interesting:
Ummmmmmm...because dad doesn't have parental contols on the TV so he doesn't have to remember what code to enter when he orders his late night pay-per-view porn, that's why!Comcast chiefs also were investigating why the X-rated action was not screened out by parental controls on TV sets.LoyalGuard

Yeah, my wow was a mix of "I can't believe that happened" and "I can't believe people are blaming Disney and not Comcast, the root of all evil in the world"

Just LOL!! Imagine how many parents were forced into the uncomfortable "boys have a penis, girls have a vagina" talk prematurely.
Someone is having a laugh from this I'm sure.

Ferris, I dispute your statement. Please provide some evidence.

Re: Not Quite the "Handy Manny" They Thought
Evidence:
1. Disney is a huge corporation with nearly as many worldwide assets as the US military. All branches combined.
2. Disneyworld has an underground network of tunnels spanning over 30 miles and very very extensive surveillance equipment in and around the park that is capable of picking up perfect speech through ride noise and other surrounding audibles. As far as this and other security information goes, I have a friend that works for disneyworld security, but cannot divulge his name because he'd lose his job and probably get arrested.
4. Disneyworld causes the single largest traffic problem in the country EVERY WEEKEND according to USDOT information. This is what people who live in orlando get to deal with.
5. Disneyworld is the only place i've ever found where a hamburger and fries costs more than a souvenir hat and tee-shirt.
6. Ever taken a spin on "It's a small world"?
7. Walt Disney was an admitted socialist and rumored member of the Nazi Party.
8. Out of a nationwide survey conducted less than ten years ago, the results found that 98.2% of people who had been to a disney theme park expressed a strong desire to return. Less than 12% of those polled who had never been to a theme park expressed a desire to EVER go. Mind control at work kids, one trip and they have you hooked for life.
9. So why are disney theme parks the only civilian no-fly zones in the united states? What about other theme parks like the various Paramount parks, or Busch Gardens?
10. It's all geared toward kids and family fun. No evil there, right? Wrong. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing man that he doesnt exist.
11. Comcast is just a cable provider that controls less than 19% of the total cable market in the continental united states. Hell, Time Warner and their subsidiary companies like Bright House are more evil than comcast.
I could provide MUCH more, but I believe this makes my case.

Re: Not Quite the "Handy Manny" They Thought
They may be bloated and have too much power, but this is not proof of evildoing. It does provide the potential to mask any such activities, though.
This is perfectly legal, I think, since it's inside their own park. It probably helps prevent lawsuits or something.
That's a nuisance, not evil.
Chalk one up for evil.
Just because the core of his philosophy has as many holes as Windows ME doesn't mean that he's evil, and even if he was, the current corporate conglomerate that is Disney can hardly be attributed to the man himself.
It's the same way with alcohol and second-year college students. Is alcohol in college a part of the root of evil?
That's so the US Military doesn't downsize Disney to avoid competition.
I agree, families are evil. That's two points for evil.
This has no bearing on the moral alignment of Disney.
I don't know; I think I need some photo evidence. Also, note that none of this is information that appears to be related to your location, which was an implied factor in your previous post. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt. ~ Bertrand Russell

You cannot die in Disney World, because they have an agreement with the Orlando police not to allow coroners onto the property to declare you dead. Or so I have been told by a park employee.

One of Disney's artists drew a dildo on the front cover of "The Little Mermaid's" VHS release. That can be debated I suppose but my mother owns a copy still wrapped and have seen it. Not to mention this:

Re: Not Quite the "Handy Manny" They Thought
Corporate greed or company culture aside--without Disney, Orlando would be a backwater bump on some mosquito's rear end. Sure there are many more corporations doing business in Orlando now but back when Mr. Disney put his stakes down in the sand in Kissimmee, Orlando was a back country reststop at best. People forget what a risk Mr. Disney took on building his empire in Central Florida.
I hardly think it's fitting to blame Disney singly for the traffic problems encountered in Orange/Polk Cnty. The success Disney had was key to attracting more corporations and corporate growth to the area. Decades of ill conceived civil planning followed. The good fathers of Orlando 30 years ago had no idea what affect their feverish quest for corporate development would bring. In the name of almighty tax receipts they just didn't look at the whole picture. And today's Orlando-good and bad-is the result.
