far cry was harder than hell. i know because i beat it on realistic! about 10-40 reloads on each checkpoint and on later levels even 60 reloads. It took me about 3 weeks to finally finish the game. But i thought it was fun challenge anyways.

Think thats more accurate? It certainly isn't "top 10 hardest PC games ever", as we've seen plenty of evidence to the contrary in this thread.

I'm inclined to agree, but on it's face he probably hasn't played more than 20% of games that even existed. I'm sure I could dig up a list of games that were impossibly hard because the game itself was flawed, not because they were designed to be.

Star Control 2 was one fantastically hard game, which was completely curtailed due to a flaw in the PC version where you could sell more landing craft than you had, hence gaining infinite resources.

I remember reading a list of top 10 worst video game controllers ever. They had everything from the Jaguar controller down to those old motion sensing hexagons for Sega Genesis. You know, the one WAY before we had the technology to do it right, and it didn't work. The power glove was in there as well.

This jerk-off rated the Xbox controller higher than other controllers that actually did not function 90% of the time because "LOL iTS HUUUGE." It just smacks of MS bashing for the sake of pandering to that demographic. Was the original Xbox control a larger than it should have been? Yea, I'll give it that. But the damn thing worked unless you had insanely small hands.

If main-stream media is biased, then half the crap that from gaming industry reviews is right out of 1984.

Agree with JamesTerror... HW2??? I've only completed the first Homeworld using cheats (I haven't played it for a few years now though, so gonna give it another try soon). Received HW2 from Amazon UK the other day, and it seems that it's nowhere near as hard as the original.

As for the rest of the list, it seems this guy was (almost) born yesterday. AvP at the no. 1 spot? Geez...

I agree with the list and yeah, IL2 was super hard, but I loved the graphics and simulation.. but I needed like 2 keyboards for all the controls... Best flight sim since Falcon 4

Has anyone tried to beat Civilization 3 on "Deity"? It's impossible for me to survive even to the Birth of Christ! Also, I think Nethack is harder than about six of those games, although I had a much easier time of Nethack than Armed Assault (damned AI).

Hearts of Iron 2 is tough as nails for me... I ususally cheat... perhaps I just lack patience. It also depends greatly on country choice.. Like, if you play as italy, you can be pretty messed up if you don't play it just right.

Also... the chessmaster series has gotten to the point where beating the computer actually can require you to be a chessmaster now...at least some of the harder computer opponents... those are hard games.

On the pure reaction time shooter games...hmm. AvP was fun, not hard in my mind. Can't think of anything right now.
