Anyone playing this game or thinking about playing this game? I want to get
I've been playing a bit, it's fun. Would be more fun with more TG'ers though.
Squad system/32 & 40 player severs/ orbital drop in spawning anyway on the map/squad spawning. It offers conquest style mode, with side objectives you can complete for more points to buy temporary upgrades for that map. Lots of stuff. I'm not entirely sure how many maps are included in this version, and I only played the first full game through beta (was fun back then too) but it never really took off, just do to no interest/lack of players.
I like how you can build stuff and call on vehicles/etc. Questions....
-Is there an in-game VOIP?
-I heard there is a "lock-in" system... does it mean u don't need to aim? Does it take away any skill related to such?
-Is it worth the $15?
Yes, VOIP is built into Games for Windows Live aka Xbox Live for the PC. It's default open mic system, that you have to disable, and enable push to talk. Do I hear people talking? Not really, because their pubs. I've heard two or three people talk once.
It has a lock on system for snipers, you can only use once every 30 seconds or so, it has to recharge, it will typically remove the enemies shield, but not kill them, unless their shield is already down.
I'd say, yes it's worth the $15. It's not that much to loose, if you absolutely hate it, though. There is only four maps, each has two medium setups, and then a large setup. I'm sure more maps will become available later on, most likely as DLC.

Yes, Your mic is on and voice activated by default. I found this out the hard way, after screaming in frustration and seeing my mic icon light up :|.
Lock on is for every weapon and not just snipers. It only lasts 1-2 seconds though and has sizeable recharge, so its definately not gamebreaking. The main thing about it is figuring out when to use it and not waste it, If you lock on, and the guy managed to get behind cover you've completely wasted your precious lockon, and he may now jetpack over your head while filling you with bullets.
I quite like the mechanic to be honest. It adds a little extra tactical element to especially 1v1 battles.
I played the original section 8, I thought the game was terrible. I do however see some differences in the gameplay trailers with this game. Let me know how it is.
"Everyone makes fun of us rednecks with our big trucks and all our guns........until the zombie apocalypse"
Its a fun game. Lots of opportunity for teamwork.... just need some team-mates :-)
If you're playing add me to steam or GFWL so we can team up: Both usernames are "Zoticus77"
Been playing it off and on. Coming from a BF2142 (on TG) perspective it's alllmost there but not quite. As a shooter it feels better than BF2142 does; esp. if you put points into accuracy/recoil reduction (armor mods). The game modes are weak. I wish companies who produce shooters would realize there are two markets. The "shoot and get high kill scores" market and the market that prefers a lot more depth via game modes, kill numbers be damed.
For those who haven't played take a look at Total Biscuit's WTF Is for the title. He explains the mechanics fairly well and I figured $15 wasn't too bad after seeing his video.
"...the rules aren't there to enumerate what is always correct but what is always wrong..."
There is now a forum for this game. My take is: it's a ton of fun for $15. With TG type squad play and tactics it gets better as you go. i find it to be well balanced as far as weapons/vehichles and unlocks. The lock-on feature can only be used sparingly and is a great counterweight to the natural jumpiness of having jet packs (like tribes). I do wish there were more maps, but each one has so many hidey-holes and useable terrain, that it doesn't matter that much. As far as the original Section 8 - well, yeah, that was bad, but this is a different game.
Bottom line, if you are old enough to have played Tribes 2, and you have played BF2 and/or 2142, you will thoroughly enjoy this game, since it's like they got together and had a love child..
I got yer Dancing With the F**&ing Stars right here!!
Eight months later I finally received the reports from three peer-reviews on my latest manuscript with the University of Toronto Press. This will be my third book with the same press and the second...

Rage makes a great case for using the VR as a place for training as a sniper. Virtual training rooms for training in virtual warfare.
This post is a great TG read:
