Re: cs_arcticstorm
I love this map (it reminds me of siege to be honest) but the only thing i dislike about it is the fact you can get through the windows by the metal detector (if that werent possible it would be a nice trick for a t to run there and lock us out, and the other thing is that pointless building on the surface.

Re: cs_arcticstorm
There is an issue with this map and it causing the server to crash with what i am thinking is dynamic weapon pricing. I'm not sure why or how but it is definately this map. If someone wants to decompile and have a look at it's entities or use stripper source.

Re: cs_arcticstorm
Every time it crashes i notice that some one has just joined the server and well you might looking into if it could be a setting that they are bringing with them (possible that its this new cl_restrict_commands) and those with it enabled crash the server on this map when they join. maybe just a coincidence though.

Re: cs_arcticstorm
This map WAS PCS for me. On a full server you could take a contingent of 3 T's up to the front entrance and stake that out, hopefully taking down a few before you recon with your team.
This map is one of the best, bar none. -Zephyr

Re: cs_arcticstorm
Discussion on this map for clarification.
Garage and Lobby are connected by a green spiral staircase. Scenario. It's 5 v 5: one Terrorist has garage covered. Ends up taking out 3 CT's trying to enter that route with nade and excellent Ak work (one real lucky headshot). Waiting several seconds (around 30 give or take) with no other contact. Report from other T's is there are 2 CT's in elevator stairwell. Terrorist in garage reports his intention to come around behind them from spiral staircase then goes up through green spiral to lobby and engages enemy from above in elevator staircase, takes out one CT and another T takes out the other. Terrorist from garage gets chastized from CT's. I want to reiterate the comms used to teamates to report intentions prior to entering green spiral to lobby. Acceptable? |

Re: cs_arcticstorm
I'd say that was a excellant use of tactics and comms.
Only thing id make sure of is make sure you have confirmation that both CT's are in the stairwell and elevator shaft. No reason you cant box them in. Granted I think i would have waited up top for them to come out. |

Re: cs_arcticstorm
My view point is again, to the lobby area is simple, if you stray far from the stairwell/elevator shaft then your off objective. When your by the exits you can quickly be backing your team up if needed from another angle.
However if you are waiting around for a while in the front rooms I would call this kill hunting. Waiting in these rooms means that you are less easily back down stairs to meet up with team mates and have no way of helping protect your objective (the hostages). I would also say waiting upstairs for people to appear is not on objective in my eyes either since the idea is an ambush not to wait out the round upstairs where if it has gone a certain time you know they are not coming and might as well pull your watch to some where more usefull. As for your flank, I would say that the T was off objective, again why was he running around half the map to get there? Was it to stop them rescuing the hostages, no it was to try and grab some cheap kills (they are only 2 CT's left and you have 5, easily enough to bunker down the hostages so the CT's can't pick you off) when you can not be certain that they aren't watching their backs or are just about to retreat and catch this lone wolf moving around. No matter how well comm'ed if you put yourself in a position you can't escape from then you are not helping your team if it goes wrong. |

Re: cs_arcticstorm
I would say 2 to flank the Elevator. 5v5 I would say you shouldn't be in garage or in lobby. Its a large map and needs full teams.
Stay with the backset and halls. First of all being by himself in garage is foolish no matter what his comms. Thats why I always send 2 there on a bizy server. Once 1 is killed the other must move back also picking up an extra man from the lower halls.
