Yeah I am on FSX and I have been hesitant to patch since I got some payware that is non patch compliant.

Now I remember why I had my controls on my desk!
I was gonna play some FSX not be a total loss of a pilot in BF2. (smacks head!)

Anyone ever thought of maybe starting a Reno and/or Red Bull Air Races server for the new FSX Expansion? I dont have the expansion yet, but I hear it's unbelievably good and the races can be quite a hoot to play.

Not to mention, the missions are supposed to be very good also (you can coop these right?). Also, the expansion has the super-hornet and a working aircraft carrier!

    p.s.
dont forget DX10 graphics come with the expansion

Yeah you guys have to have some kind of Department of Defense Mainframe to run FSX on high settings down the board. AMD Dual Core with GeForce 8600 GTS still lags on Medium High settings when you get near the ground, so DX10 is not a big deal.

FSX is still to this day the main piece of software used for benchmarking systems. It taxes literally everything in your box, including the HDDs.

I can tell you straight up that amd dual-core isnt enough unless it's overclocked above 3.0GHz (pentium equivalent). The 8600 also isnt enough unless you've got two of them. You also need a Raid array to speed texture loads and 2GB RAM minimum. Nowadays though, you can build a rig (many of us have) that can handle FSX relatively cheaply. I paid $1800 to build mine (a year ago), but you could do it for less than $1000 now I'm sure.

I am running a 8800GTX with 1GB of memory or maybe it was 768 anyways.
A dual isn't going to cut it that is for sure.
My rig was built almost two years ago and it's time to upgrade.
    It's a X2 4400+ oc'd to 2.6GHz and 3gb of ram.

I am waiting for Christmas to pick up the new Intel chip and some new HDDs.

Does anyone have some good sites that have discussions regarding the newer Intel Processors and how they will behave with FSX?
