    AAA Unified Installer v1.1 has been released at allaircraftarcade.com, as has been mentioned on the TFR forums, and I highly suggest everyone get it to experience so truly awesome mod projects.

    I'm thinking about dual booting my mac and getting this (craving some CFS's). I will be concentrating on multiplayer. Is there a large online community and does it take a high-spec system to run?

    Also, what's the difficulty level here? I could get it in the air and land it, but whether I could engage in combat at realistic levels immediately is a different matter.

    Sure thing! There is a large community that plays this. You can access it via Hyperlobby. We however hostgames ourselves on Thursday nights. It gives a bit more control over missions that we may want to run. It does not take a high spec system to run. I run it on:
    C2d 4300
    1 GB Ram
    80 GB HDD
    ATI 1950GT video card

    The difficulty level can vary. Sure if your entire squadron gets shot down and you're being chased by 16 Japanese Zeros while your P-38 has one engine on fire and missing part of the right wing.....things can get "interesting". LOL!

    We are able to offer some training if you are interested.

    I used to play the original IL2 with minimal lag on a 4 mb integrated graphics chip and a pentium 3.

    Here are the minimum specs off of Ubi's site:
    IL2 Sturmovik: 1946 Download Minimum System Requirements

    * Supported OS: Windows® 98/ME/XP/2000 (only)
    * Processor: Pentium® III or AMD Athlon™ 1 GHz (Pentium 4 2.4 GHz recommended)
    * Ram: 512 MB (1 GB recommended)
    * Video Card: DirectX® 9 compliant with 64 MB RAM (128 recommended)(see supported list*)
    * Sound Card: DirectX 9 compliant
    * DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0 or higher
    * DVD-ROM
    * Hard Drive Space: 1.1+ GB
    * Multiplayer: Broadband Internet connection

    * Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
    ATI® Radeon™ 7000/8000/9000/X families
    NVIDIA® GeForce™ 256/2/3/4/FX/6 families
    Matrox Parhelia™
    Intel® GMA 925X/915P/915G chipsets
    Interesting note, if you type in 'il2:1946 system requirements' into google TG is the second one down linking to this thread!

    Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....

    Man, I don't know how I missed this thread. I just got 1946 not to long ago and I'm loving it. If you guys get together next week, I'm down if you post the day and time (a couple of days in advance). I also have downloaded the AAA Unified installer but I haven't tried it out yet.
    I have been trying to get a way to get IR Tracker going on so I can look around better. I have been looking into FreeTrack since I really don't want to spend the $130 on a IR Track 4 pro. Are any of you guys using either of these with Sturmovik 1946 ?

    I also picked up a Saitek X52 at circuit citie's closing sale for $25 and man it is great in 1946.
    What difficulty are you guys flying on ? I'm still pretty new at it so I don't know if I would last long on HARD core settings.
    Thanks for your time and consideration, DESODE

    We run AAA UI 1.1
    Many of us use TrackIR in IL2. Using the 6-DOF mod included in the AAA UI will also make the movement feel much more natural as opposed to the 2-DOF that the game usually supports.
    During missions we usually run on realistic settings except for allowing external views however I think we will be willing to turn down the settings if you would like some training with us. Keep in mind that training without some realism settings on can develop bad habits. For example, if you train with the 'Stalls and Spins' setting turned off you will take planes through tight turns but when you join servers that run with Stalls on (which is basically all of them) then you will find yourself stalling out even more due to not being accustomed to it.
