IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....
Hey guys, I'm looking to get together a group on a weekly basis for some IL2:1946 flying. Would anyone be interested? So far I have 3 others and we fly on Thursday nights. Typically we fly as one group against AI as the other guys are still learning.
We just recently started this (few weeks ago). We've been flying escort missions mainly acting as cover for bombers or convoys.

Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....
I've been looking for an excuse to pick up 1946 from Direct2Drive... I have vanilla IL2 and Pac Fighters already but I've never gone online with them (primarily because everyone is on the latest version with the expansions, which I don't have).
Maybe next Thursday? I'm playing Sins of a Solar Empire tonight...

Anyone still play this? I played online a few times. It's great fun as long as you don't pick a super realistic server where you can't even see the map.

Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....
Kevlarorc, there are a few of us that play every Thursday night. I host the game on my own server at home. We run normal missions and run training mission nights every other week. Feel free to come join us! PM me or email me for more details. Thanks.

This is up against TRM night for me but I'll try to work something out. I was also going through JFC flight training as they do a campaign on the weekends.

Yeppers, I didn't know about large mutliplayer capabilities until recently either. Hyperlobby
( http://hyperfighter.sk/) has more players on it at any given time than PR does. I've even seen over 1000 online at a time on weekends.

Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....
I have IL2: 1946, problem is, it's hard to install correctly in Vista, there are workarounds, but it takes a LOT of patience (1 hour + install anyone?).
But sure, when I get it working, this will be the first place I'll go.

Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....
* Important tip for Windows VISTA users: Do not install IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 to your Program Files folder. (I changed my install path to C:\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946.) VISTA puts additional protection on programs within the Program Files folder and this interferes with the game's ability to update some user preferences.
We may in fact get something going this weekend. I'll let everyone know.

Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....
Couple of things:
What are the system requirements for this?
Where can I buy this?
Are you guys still playing?
Do I have to worry about tedious things such as trim, torque and other stuff to be compensated for in a single engine prop plane?

Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....
The system requirements for this are VERY low. I ran it for a while on a AMD XP3000+ Barton, 512MB of RAM, and a 9800 Pro video card. While I didn't have the very nice graphics, it did run. With my new setup of a E4300 C2D, ATI 1950GT and 1 GB I am able to get "perfect" settings in the graphics area. It looks very nice.
You can buy it in many places. You can pick it up in the bargain bin for 10 bucks if you look around. Remember, its IL2:1946.
Yes, we still play every Thursday and are now looking at expanding that.
Yes and no. It depends on how the server is setup. We have some members that REALLY enjoy getting into the meat of the game with trim controls, dealing with torque, etc.... I can play either way. I prefer a mix of hard settings with a few nice things like map icons and such.

Re: IL2:1946, Calling all pilots....

oh yeah what about fuel?
