    LOCK ON Pilot Roster

42nd Tac-G Fighter Squadron Pilot Roster

    Active
    1. Apophis
    2. Jex
    3. Mateo
    4. Squid

EDIT: Ok this is the revised roster. I've basically taken away all names that haven't been around for a while. If your name has gone but you still wish to be included, PM or email me. If you're new and wish to sign up, let me know

This pilot roster will also be used for other flight sims, not just lock on. The forums will also be revised shortly and cleaned up to reflect a more accurate picture of the flight sim status.

I got it and will play if I see you guys hosting a server. I hope dedicated server support comes along. Flying IL2 has been a pretty good experience. I think I'll get the hang of strafing soon with some practice.

Actually I think we can have more than 6 with no problem Jex, we just all can't be in the same flight. In fact, it might be more fun and interesting to have some guys in A10's doing CAS, and some guys in F15's running air support and such. You're right though, we will have to test and see how many can get in without bogging down. The other 2 RT members are Honez and Killswitch. Lets do it guys!

Cool and the mixture of F15's and A10's is a great idea. I'm gutted we didn't see our F16 fighter escort engage those migs last night. Next time they should do as long as riyker doesn't take another half hour trying to start his engines lol

Sarc, Me and riyker will be on later tonight (early afternoon EST we're hoping. Hop in if you can or later.

Total - I hope you find the need - the need for speed....

lol (Btw Luna - that's from Top Gun too )

I'll be on this afternoon with you guys! Oh wait, I still have to learn how to fire weapons. I might jump in without knowing a thing except keeping the thing in the air.

Yeah, I learned a lot today. Sorry about the last mission there. Karma pulled me to another channel and then I crashed. I'm going to blame my crash on him.

I heard this game is really complicated...so I don't know if I'm ready for it yet.

However, if it really is as fun as you say it is, I will go out and buy the game today, but you guys will be responsible for teaching me WTF to do....

    So which is it? 8)

It really isn't that complicated. Flying is very close to IL2. A lot of things are calculated for you like bomb drops. It even has a hold altitude switch! That thing is great when you need to concentrate on locking onto targets. The only important thing you'll need to learn is the weapon systems. It's not too hard either. Using the mavericks took me about a mission or two before I could lock onto targets easily. The 30mm cannon is very easy to use. It's no big deal walking another person through on using it.

We found a lot of bugs with the game though. It's nothing serious that won't let you play but it's weird stuff like zooming too far out or in with your mouse will invert the cockpit. So you end up using the keyboard for that, no big deal.

It's kind of crappy that there isn't a dedicated server but hosting isn't so bad. You can join the game at any time and still take off to catch up or spectate the others blowing stuff up.

Yes and no. The game is still buggy but is playable. When it is behaving it is a dream. It doesn't come with many missions but fear not as we will be making missions for it.

It does need a high end machine though. I would recommend nothing less than a P2.o ghz, 512 RAM and a 128 G/card. On saying this though frame rates and probs seem to be different for each PC. A P4 1.8 with 256 ram and a 64 meg card could run the same as a higher end machine.

The developers are working on patches and so far we haven't had too many issues with it. I would say get it and try it if your prepared to play MP. As a SP game it probably sucks but MP it rocks!

I have all the sims you guys are playing. EE, LOMAC, IL2, IL2FB etc. I have to say it's really cool to see some more TG members taking interest in the flight aspect of PC gaming.

Now i've played the game some more I'd have to say yes it is worth it. Not only are we making missions but there are also plenty of missions out there. DL the demo 1st from http://www.lo-mac.com/ and see how it plays. Whack the graphics to max (CTRL - BackSpace for frame rates) and see how it performs. Tweak as necessary. I believe there is one or two missions that you can fly that should strain you system and let you know how it'll work.

Once that's done make sure you're around at the weekends and join in. we have plenty of training missions and are more than willing to show you the ropes.

    Hope to see you soon.

    Thanks,

    J.
