Is that the first one, or the sequel Ranger? Sounds like fun.

So, LOMAC really isn't all that great, huh? The box sure makes it sound like fun....

Re: Flight Sims for Noobs

Guys let's get a falcon 4.0 game going, Mateo, PM me your address and I'll send you a copy.

We need to have the same install. This is where it usually ends with no-one bothering because falcon is a pain to install. It actually isn't that bad, but it does need to be followed to the letter.

Anyone with an installation of falcon can have more than one install - just simply rename your falcon folder to something different, install the other one, then simple swap folder names around to play.

www.freebirdswing.org is the install I'm using. You need to register to be able to DL their patch, but after that you need not go back there if you don't wish to. If we don't all use the same install we can forget it, but I would really like to get a game going at TG sometime and I think we could have some serious fun.

So let me know if you guys are up for some and let's get a mission together.

Re: Flight Sims for Noobs

I picked up Falcon 4: Allied Force and fiddled with it last night. I'm rusty!!!

I was wondering if anyone would like to form a "study group" to go through the training missions together starting from the very beginning.

Re: Flight Sims for Noobs

I'd be willing to give this a try. I've never really tried combat flight sims before, but with the right people this sounds like it could be fun.

I got my copy today and I think I'm gonna need this kind of study group. How about Tuesday at 8? Can you fly the tutorials in MP?

Re: Flight Sims for Noobs

That sounds good Squid. I don't know if we can fly the tutorials in MP but maybe we work on the some of the skills they address. I'd be perfectly happy just taking off, working on turns, landing, etc. in a first flight.

See how it's a tad different from lomac?

Yah, just a bit!

You may have seen this, but this SimHQ report on the campaign aspect of the game really got me excited to learn how to fly this thing!

And this one is a must read for the Multi-Player aspect of the game:

Re: Flight Sims for Noobs

Just got back from vacation myself, and picked AF up today. Oh my, I think I might've gotten in over my head with this one, but it certainly looks to be a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. I'm starting from scratch here, so I'd love to do the training missions with someone.

Re: Flight Sims for Noobs

Hey guys,

I'd like to get in on the F4:AF thing, too. I ordered a copy and it should be here this week. I'm a Falcon 4.0 pilot from way back - I was never all that good at it but I found it to be fun. I have LOMAC too, and it's not bad, but as you said the lack of missions and a dynamic campaign kinf of limited its shelf life.

So, count me in on any training/missions/etc. with F4:AF! I hope we can round up enough folks for a decent squadron!
