Re: Spore - Ultimate Sim?
Imagine that... Releasing the expansion pack-sized program BEFORE the retail release of the game!
It's a foul marketing trick, but I'm going to buy it!

Re: Spore - Ultimate Sim?
Well the creature creation part of the game comes out free on the 17th this month.
http://eu.spore.com/home.cfm?lang=en This is a free demo so you can make your little monsters and then use them in a little training program to see how they would move, fight and dance, ect. You can pay for a full version of the creator on the same date but it seems to me this will give us quite alot of options just for free so well worth the download. |

That's just a limited trial edition...

Re: Spore - Ultimate Sim?
The limited(free) demo has been leaked. Kotaku has the link in a couple of their posts. Even with only 1/4 of the stuff available it is incredibly entertaining. It's a little challenging at first, especially if you are like me and don't read instructions, but as you tinker with the controls and find out exactly what you can do to manipulate your creation it gets even more fun.

Re: Spore - Ultimate Sim?
Anyone created a creature yet? You can really create some wacky creatures. It's pretty fun. I'd buy the game alone for the creature creator. I'll try and post mine.

Re: Spore - Ultimate Sim?
Yeah, I made some creatures.. It is pretty fun, but I got bored pretty quick. They only do give you the very basic stuff though, so it can be better.
Some creatures I created: A some-what human w/ grass and wings A ball creature with 8 eyes and 5 mouths (Only one leg, but then I upped it to 4) A lizzard with 8 legs, grass all over and green skin. Total camo! |

Re: Spore - Ultimate Sim?
I bought the whole creator and have made some great monsters you get so much more range from all that is to offer, but as others have said it gets old quickly and I am worried that since the game draws from everyones creation when you explore worlds all your gonna find is crappy penis shaped monsters.

Re: Spore - Ultimate Sim?
I got the trial and amused myself. Neat tools.
I hope it's not too indicative of the main game, though. If so, I will probably not be able to a) run at full screen, b) load previously saved creatures, c) play the game after accessing the sporepedia, because it borks the 3D engine and generates horrible clipping everywhere. At least on my current machine. Disappointing. Glad I didn't buy the full version. And yeah, I wonder if they are going to vet creations from the database. I assume that they've at least considered the danger of unchecked rampaging penis monsters.
