Re: Auto racers here?
I use to do a lot of racing back in the GPL days. I got out of it when it became almost impossible to find a good "clean" race.
For some reason griefers came out of the woodwork and it seemed they wanted to turn every race into a demolition derby. I would be interested if though if TG got something going, at least then some good clean racing might be possible. |

Re: Auto racers here?
OK, I've got an old, used wheel/pedals combo. Which game is TG going to host?

Re: Auto racers here?
Good question. I've been enjoying the GTR: FIA game until GT Legends gets released in the US in another month or 2. Those old cars are where I'll be at ultimately.

Re: Auto racers here?
Although I haven't played any in quite some time due to FPS games, I've always been a huge NASCAR sim racing fan. I used to race in a couple leagues online a while back. I'd be very much interested in getting into it again, only NASCAR though. I'm not really interested in any other kind of racing (F1, Indy, etc.).
The one league I played in was very time consuming from what I can remember. We'd have practice sessions running anywhere from an hour to three hours. Then you had qualifying and another hour or so of practice (or Happy Hour). Then of course the official race, which we raced the full 300, 400, 500 or 600 miles. Nothing like 500 miles at Bristol where you're happy to finish the race in somewhat one piece. I've been kind of out of the loop though, like I said, so I'm not sure what the latest NASCAR sim is. I know EA makes them but I've always tried to stray away from those titles as they never resembled anything close to realism. Maybe it's different now, I don't know. I always played the Papyrus titles. If TG plans on hosting a NASCAR sim title count me in for sure.

Re: Auto racers here?
Well, I'm not interested in anything that takes over 8 hours to play.
GT Legends sounds like fun. 34 players in one race! Mustangs and Cobras and Jaguars? Oh, my!

Re: Auto racers here?
Well obviously you wouldn't have to put that much time into it. You can always limit the length of races and so forth.

Re: Auto racers here?
I'm not really sure what TOCA means. I think the European version is called DTM Race Driver or something. Race Driver 3 is out in Feb. The only thing I can see improving is the interface (console based, no mouse support), a dedicated server and maybe realistic damage.

Hey, Mirfee? Do you know if GT Legends supports a dedicated server?

Re: Auto racers here?
Dedicated server is confirmed. Recommended for a standalone box, though. So, prior to any possible TG hosting, only folks with a second rig can host and play.
Latest patch (for the Euro release) bumps the multiplayer car/player limit up to 36 (from 15). And BTW, no AI bot drivers in MP.

Re: Auto racers here?
That's a pretty big player limit for GT Legends. TOCA varies and maxes at 12. I guess that's what you get for no dedicated server. It's still great though since it has a variety of cars. It's pretty fun when you have 3 or 4 of you and you turn on AI.
Any other racing sims that have a variety of cars? I think it's pretty good to have that in case some get bored or want different kinds of tracks. It sucks when TOCA doesn't have a dedicated server but there are some cool things you can do. It's got an snow track where you race the Aston Martin Vanquish just like in James Bond. Then there's rally racing, track racing and street racing. |
