    Total War is shutting down.
Victor left, and now Miax is leaving. There's a small chance it'll be run by one of the other's, but it's up in the air. If you want to play, this war is the last war for now.

Well, if the bugs have been ironed out and it's now StarForce free I might just go pick this up on Steam.

Sweet. Make sure you choose the "Quickstart" level of difficulty when you start off. That'll give you 100k, a freighter, and a fighter. :P

haha I did, just dont know what to do with it all now :P Finished the first mission without any problems... Now, I'm totally lost heh

x2 had cockpit view (with the actual cockpit IN view) I suppose x3 doesn't? Maybe I'm mistaken...

Having fun with it right now, but theres a lot to learn

Yeah, cockpits were taken out of X3 (you can mod tehm back in if you so desire)
I actually like not having cockpits. Anyway, story wise, I mostly followed the story for about 2 missions and then never touched it again in X3

What I'd suggest you do to make a bit of cash, is take your freighter, fly yourself up to Power Circle (2 sectors N of Argon Prime) buy some cheap energy cells and run them wherever you can all over the local argon sectors. Then when you've got some cash, switch from EC's to Silicon. That'll help you get your first million credits. Once you hit that, you can look at getting your first station (i suggest something like a silicon mine in HN, or wheat farm in Home of Light or something of that nature), and away you go. Right now I'm up to 3 self-sustained military complexes pumping out 6 million dollars of weaponry per game hour or so, and I'm building more It's much fun.

www.egosoft.com has a downloads section you can get an X3 cockpit mod from. I just overlays the cockpits from X2. You need to register on the forums to access it.

    Re: X3 & X2 Available on Steam

Ahh... well unless either of you guys would mind getting that for me, I don't know if I can even get it registered as I dont have a manual with any codes. STEAM version :/

    *EDITED IN*
Alright, heres the deal. Since STEAM versions dont come with registeration codes, they lifted that requirement to access their downloads. What does that mean? Means, to access the downloads on their site, you need only to make a forum account. So scratch what I said up there, even though I left it in (just incase someone comes across the same problem)

    Xtended Mod:
    http://www.thexuniverse.com/

TC mod. Lots of new weapon effects and combat balancing (It will actually improve performance in combat, I saw a 5-10fps increase. They reworked the effects for the weapons fire to be tighter and less lag-generating etc.)

Also lots of new ships, particularily in the upper end. Added an m7 and m8 class, which fit in between TL's and M2's, to give you something to go for in the rather large and noticable gap in the normal game. Increased pirate activity, with pirate cap ships, shipyards, etc. etc.

The only mod I really use.

X2 and X3 are both on sale right now. At $15, X3 is an absolute steal for the amount of content you get. Sale ends on October 29.

Man, I saw that this morning. I could have saved $5 buying it now instead of months ago.
