Wasnt this game supposed to be the "Counter-Strike killer"? I remember reading about that in a PC gamer mag a few months back, how its supposed to take everything CS made fun and multiply it by a thousand..

Thumbs up Re: Soldner MP Beta Demo

Dudes, if you give up like that on such a good game, your bound to give up on more important things. I have played the game and it absolutely rocks! I have DSL and I think that that has a great deal in how efficent the game play is and all.

If I were you, I would check into it. I support myself by comparing dial-up to DSL. I was at school and downloaded Soldner off of Dial-Up and it did the same thing you guys are complaining about. I went home and tried it on DSL and it worked like selling your soul.

    Try it.

I think most of us that have tried it have cable ISP connections, so our speed really wasn't an issue.

If you've been playing succesfully for a bit, maybe they got their portal problems resolved. I guess I could go back, re-install, and try again, but the first impression left a nasty taste in my mouth....

    maybe...

    Re: Soldner MP Beta Demo

I played yesterday for the first time. Almost all the servers had a different version then me, though I downloaded v2, which I thought was the latest. I did get into one server and I would get random 20-30 second periods where my guy would "freeze" and then hover matrix-style in the air. Then it would kick back. I don't know. I loved seeing a forest come crashing down after a guy was GL'ing everything, but the "buying" system I wasn't too keen on. I'd like to try a coop or something more objective-based (I was playing DM).

    Re: Soldner MP Beta Demo

There are plenty of problems with the beta demo. It's more like an alpha demo because the features are there but they don't work or are not tuned. Stuff like pings not showing in the server listing and confusing connection screens along with the horrid portal system make the game difficult to play. I do believe most of the portal problems have been worked out but after trying it for a few minutes it didn't seem to offer much.

The game may be fun to play but the user interface definitely needs work. I would think interface problems would have been worked out a long time ago since this engine has been in the works for a couple of years.

Yeah, he's right. You would think that jowood would have fixed such glitches. I think the major problem was the servers would just completely freeze and go Matrix for a short time (which was kinda cool).
