Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Yeah I found a good job for $11 a day, but it's actually 9 with taxes. You say put cash in for gold, what should I buy? I've heard weapons are pretty cheap for gold.
Hey everyone I'm trying to learn Greek, if anyone has any pointers please PM me!

Well, there is taxes on income. Supposedly 20%, but no one can link me to the e-law that states the percentage, the votes on the bill, or anything else.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
On the money market 1 GRD = .03 gold. So that makes 1 gold = 33.33 GRD. So you should be able to buy 1 gold once you have "around" 33.33 GRD. I say around because I can't check the actual greek money market from the eUS but it should be close.
As a comparison 1 gold = .025 USD. Which makes 1 gold = 40.00 USD. Under the current prices you could get 1 gold for 41.55 USD.
So in approximately 4 days you will have enough GRD to buy 1 gold. If you take 4 days of pay to buy 1 gold then use the 5th to buy food and do this for 30 days you will have 6 gold.
Remember gold is the international currency and for some situations you have to have gold instead of government cash.Last edited by Scattershot; 09-29-2009 at 08:42 PM. Reason: updated gold to USD

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
There was an interesting article from eHungary of all places that took a look at the finite resource of gold and its massive expenditure during WW3 that is causing the backlash in the economy. Course since it was from eHungary is was touted as a propaganda piece, but whatever.
It basically said that aside from people buying gold with real money the only influx of gold into the game comes at two points: When new players reach level 6 and when players reach level 16. That means for every new player that hits level 16 10 gold is injected into the economy (5 more if referred by a friend). Governments spend gold accumulated on wellness packages and resistance wars thereby sending that gold out of the system to eRepublik and since the game is...well...slow and 'boring' the loss of gold from the economy far out paces the number of new people injecting gold into the system.
Putting that aside it looks like eUS is printing money to try and make gold. Finally noticed the Congressional Budget Office is an organization playing the monetary market. They printed 100,000 USD for 500 gold (200 USD per 1 gold) flipped the cash to the CBO and the CBO is now buying gold at a rate of 1 gold per 40 USD. Also seems like they're going to flip the spoils we took from regaining territories and turn that into gold as well. I wonder if that creates inflation. My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.
Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.

Hmm, well, the hard worker and other achievements are earnable multiple times, so every time someone gets gold from an achievement, it'll likely be distributed into the world economy.
Personally, I've already spent some 9 gold worth of money on a house, food, weapons, and gifts.Acreo Aeneas

Can you say "Overkill"? Turkey attacked Greece in the Aegean Islands and at 5 hours to go the wall was up over 2.5 million.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
It's because they (Turkey) were basically lame the whole time. A lot us (eUSA citizens) went over and contributed to fortifying Greece's wall. When I was fighting, Turkey wasn't even attacking. Literally nothing for a whole 25 minutes after I contributed happened on the Turkey side.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Go help Malaysia! They have come under attack from the Phillipines (and Thailand - allied with Phillipines).
I have to say, this game is looking worse and worse for those of us in the eUSA. My $13+ job now pays only about $6. At the rate general salaries are dropping, I'll probably only earn $2-3 in another few weeks. That would mean those starting at 0 skill earning $1 would have to rise 7 skill levels in order to earn anything over a few dollars. This completely sucks.
Oh, did I mention they raised the VAT on food from 8% to 15%? I mean, come on people, think! Not all of us are earning $30+ a day. Some of us can barely pay for food and with how little active wars we can fight in now, we don't really have a chance to raise our wellness.
I'm a 4.6+ skill worker. If my wages drop to $3 or below and there continues to be little fighting, there's not much fun left in continuing to play every day. I might just hit it once a week or every few weeks.Acreo Aeneas

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Yeah thats a training war.
I would just hit it every day but don't pay much attention. Over time it will only increase your wages, and once that next war comes around the wages will rise dramatically again and then fall like they are now.I have to say, this game is looking worse and worse for those of us in the eUSA. Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Yeah my $9 salary in Greece just got cut to $7 today. I had been expecting it as the job market rates have been $7 for my skill level for about a week now but it still hurts.
Atleast I've got the gold now to get a Q3 house which will help my wellness out in peacetime.
One other nice thing is that Greece doesn't have the massive taxes like the eUS.Ikariam Wars = Talus - Sulfur, Talanium - Marble, Talopolis - Wine, Talusgrad - Crystal, Talusberg - Wine.
