Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
From my understanding the income tax hike is to get extra funds from left over Iranian companies and employees temporarily while they straggle back home and/or sell their holdings. We're probably going to hold or at least lease the territory since we're going through the trouble of fortifying it with a hospital and defense system (both Q5 and both purchased already). There's even a push for people move out to Katana to build up the wall.
They'll probably drop it back down again once we've recouped some of our expenses (or at least once the HelloKitty territory is established and then returned) because an excessive iron income tax is hazardous for the domestic economy over a prolong period of time as well.
Anyhow, its just a thought to play with and I don't want to deal with currency exchanges though Greece is an alternative. My sanity is not in question...

Thanks for the advice. Although about that worker at 20 health, he's AFK or something, he hasn't worked once, so I thought I'd keep him as he raises the other worker's productivity.
Anyways I had three employees, but Math_Magician just quit (nice coincidence), so now I'm left with one employee (who actually works). So I think I may just close down my company.Hey everyone I'm trying to learn Greek, if anyone has any pointers please PM me!

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Your choice. I think its still too soon to give up though and you can turn it around if you have enough venture capital.
There's always the choice of firing all employees and just letting the company sit idle until you can give it another shot. Just work on your own with the company sitting in the organization until you want to try and run it again. If you donate your wages to the organization you won't be dependent on sales for capital and with enough capital you can blitz the job market for employees with decent skill (or just invest gold to up the Q level) so you'll make higher returns in terms of productivity.
Hell, if it was a US company I'd even offer to manage it for you just to see if I can start up a successful resource company and get experience in that field! Too bad my dealing are strictly in USD right now so I don't have any funds to work in CAD for wages and such. -_-My sanity is not in question...

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Man, the bugs in the business module are bugging me. Right now you can't manage your employees, view your finances, and its hit or miss if you can update your market and job offers without getting a fatal error.
On a different topic. Does anyone know if/how you can remove items from your company inventory to the owner organization? I'd like to offer weapons at a discount to employees and TG members (though with weapon prices in free fall that's an iffy idea), but if I can't remove stock from company inventory that shoots down that idea. Don't want to purchase from my own company either because that would trigger all sorts of taxes.
Also, I still can't figure out how the hell to embed hyperlinks in messages. When ever I try to link something I get a line of text.
Finally managed to get a erepublic wiki account though so both my organization and company are wikied. ^_^My sanity is not in question...

Can't the company donate them to the ORG?

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
No, you can't donate from the company to the organization. The only donations allowed are raw materials to the company. Which means the only way to 'withdraw' goods from the company (not counting land companies who produce raw materials, not uses them) would be to put it on the market at an unsellable price and buy it myself. That's not a good idea because then I'll just get hit by taxes left and right.
The profit margin for food isn't much higher than weapons right now. I finally scrounged up the cash to upgrade to Q2 and that should improve my business somewhat.
1 grain (0.32 USD) = 1 food (0.66 USD) = 0.34 profit per unit
5 iron (0.50 USD) = 1 Q1 weapon (3.5 USD) = 0.50 profit per unit
5 iron (0.50 USD) = 1 Q2 weapon (6.21 USD) = 3.21 profit per unit
There's also the problem in the eUS that low level skills have had an income growth significantly higher than those with high level skills.
4.5 USD for level 2 vs 11 USD for level 5.
Land is even worse with Level 2 sitting at 4.25, but level 3 jumping to 9
If a level 2 working at 100 wellness creates 2 units of Q1 weapons (productivity is around 9.something) then that means for every 4.5 USD in wages I make 1 USD in sales for a loss of 3.5 per person.
Alternatively a level 2 working at 100 wellness creates 1 unit of Q2 weapons then for every 4.5 USD in wages I make 3.21 USA in sales for a loss of 1.3 per person.
Ugh...anyway I look at it the market is too much in free fall with the influx of weapons at low prices. My sanity is not in question...

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Are you sure it still only takes 5 iron to make a Q2 weapon?
I thought you mulitplied the base # of units needed by the Quality of the company to find out how many were needed which would be 10 Q1 iron to make 1 Q2 weapon. I may have misread or be misremembering though since you actually have the business.Ikariam Wars = Talus - Sulfur, Talanium - Marble, Talopolis - Wine, Talusgrad - Crystal, Talusberg - Wine.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Lol my food company is at the top of the market right now. The only annoying thing is the time zones with Greece.
Oh, and I think it still takes the same amount of iron to produce a weapon, however because it's now q2 your employees will have less productivity, if I read the formula properly.Hey everyone I'm trying to learn Greek, if anyone has any pointers please PM me!

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Yeah, there's a 20% drop in productivity for every quality level over one, but the trade off is the greater efficiency in raw materials. You basically use less to produce more.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
I'm trying to manipulate the productivity formula so I can plug the observed productivity and skill level into a spreadsheet and return the wellness they worked at, but the math is giving me issues.

Productivity = 1/2 * A * B * C * D * E *F
Solve for W where C = 1+ 2W/100
P = (ABCDEF)/2
2P = ABCDEF
2P/ABDEF = C
2P/ABDEF = 1 + 2W/100
200P/ABDEF = 100 + 2W
200P - 100/(ABDEF) = 2W
100P - 50/ (ABDEF) = W
That's about as far as I got, but the math is off somehow since when I plug in the skill and productivity (variables A, B, D, E, and F are calculated individually in separate cells using company details) I get a value off by roughly 40 and grows depending on skill level and such.
Anyone spot where I'm screwing up the algebra? My sanity is not in question...

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
You know, there are productivity calculators already.
http://erepublik.ws/companycalc/demo
Just set all the data.
Oh, you know you can buy q3 and q4 raw goods even though you're a q2 company right?
One q4 iron=4 q1 iron...it's actually a lot cheaper to buy the higher quality raw goods.Hey everyone I'm trying to learn Greek, if anyone has any pointers please PM me!

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
*facepalm* I've been buying Q1 iron at 0.50 each while Q5 is 5 Q1 at 0.30 each.
Didn't know I actually had to buy higher Q goods and thought it just converted it to Q1 automatically. Well, that lowers the variable costs a bit.
And you misunderstand what I'm trying to do. All the productivity calculators calculate productivity with given skill, wellness, employee number, and quality of good.
I'm trying to take the formula and manipulate it so I can plug in productivity and get what wellness they worked at. Can't do that with the calculators unless you play with trial and error to get the numbers to match up for different wellness values. My sanity is not in question...
