Just imagine the PIA that it's going to be to find the product you want with the mods you want at a price you want?

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
It will definitely bring in new dimensions of competition. Currently the only standard is price which, as evidenced by the price wars as everyone off loads everything as soon as possible, is a very volatile and hard to factor for business owners. Now you can specialize and aim for a niche market and only compete with people in your particular field You can even have multiple companies producing a variety of your brand name.

Yep, it's just going to be so hectic for the first few weeks of this new mod.
Anyways does anyone here own a food company? If so I'll happily sell you (in gold) whatever the cheapest in the world is at the time.
A cool site for company owners:

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
One question I have...How long do houses last? Apparently they cave in on themselves after time. I have a Q3 house worth 15 gold (back when I bought it) and it's just going to disappear soon?

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Well from what has been released each quality of product will have X number of points associated with it. It's safe to assume that items grandfathered to the new system will be defaulted to the 'base line' average since that's basically what we have before specialization.
Houses have 3 customization areas: Durability, Happiness, and Wellness
They get 40 CP per quality level.
That means a 3* house will have 120 CP with an assumed split of 40/40/40. How much that actually translates to is unknown though.
BTW, that also means a 1* house will have 40 CP with a split of 13/13/13 and 1 point assigned somewhere.
2* will have 80 CP with a split of 26/26/26 with 2 points assigned somewhere.
4* will have 160 CP with a split of 53/53/53 with 1 point assigned somewhere.
5* will have 200 CP with a split of 66/66/66 with 2 points assigned somewhere.
If recovery values are kept the same as now, then that means 13 points in happiness or wellness will return 1 point of each at 50% (bell curve is assumed). Of course with the new 'durability' that value is an unknown but if 13 = 1 then perhaps a 3* will last for 3 base units as well. It has yet to be seen if that base line is a day, week, or month though.
Hell, it can even be assumed that for each point in durability the house will last 1 day so a Q1 house will last 13 days while a 5* house will last 66 days.
BTW, for those with businesses, or looking to get into ownership of a business, now is probably the best time to start picking up holdings. Not only will companies for sale start to be dissolved for resources, but you'll need 40 gold to start a business instead of 20 once the new module goes live. 20 for the actual purchase, and 20 as investment capital that is automatically invested in your company. Which, if that's a steep amount, means you'll automatically get hit by taxes if you try to recollect that investment capital.My sanity is not in question...

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
But if you get a raw materials company, upgrade it to Q2 or Q3 right away, no one buys q1 raw material as it costs way too much.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
I love going thru the companies for sale and checking prices and locations and wondering what drugs some of these people were on when they either created their company( it was created in an area with low, medium or no resource) or set the price for their somewhat worthless company (charging more than 20g for a company that has nothing special including bad resource location).

Speaking of buying a business it seems like wood would be the company to go with in V2 since there will be more of a need with everything falling apart eventually.

That's true. Even diamond companies look like they're going to be valuable, now that they are changing into titanium!

Just bought a Q1 wood company for 17 gold. The owner didn't realize what he had and should have charged more. It's in a high quality wood state and has 8 dead employees.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
That's debatable really. Q1 and Q5 goods have the highest 'per unit' price usually. Q3 and Q4 are more economically savvy for manufacturing owners though.
I picked up a Q1 iron company in Karnataka for 15g and I'm breaking even with 3 level 3 employees and 6 level 0 employees. 100% production at a higher sale price is pretty nice. If you upgrade to Q2 iron then you start seeing problem with the dip in sale price with 90% production. Q3 is better as the price/sale ratio is a lot better, but not as good as Q1. Q4 and Q5 are probably the best, but have the highest initial investment with 25g to Q2, 50g to Q3, 100g to Q4, and probably 200g to Q5.
Put another way, Q4 is double the price of Q1 iron, but is gathered at a 70% rate. Q2 is about 3 cents more than Q1 and gathered at a 90% rate. Q3 is marginally better about 50% more than Q1 gathered at an 80% rate.
As for the economic conversion at least everything is going to settle nicely into place.
Grain -> Grain
Wood -> Stone
Iron -> Iron
Diamond -> Titanium
Food -> Food (grain)
House -> House (stone)
Hospital -> Hospital (stone)
Defense -> Defense (stone)
Gift -> Helicopter or Artillery (iron)
Weapon -> Infantry or Tank (titanium)
The 'hot' businesses are going to be housing and food as people play around with the happiness/wellness ratio a bit after the conversion. Stone will also be in very high demand as people worry over their Q5 houses crumbling around them and you have the durability and range of hospitals and defense systems to worry about. The 'cold' industries will probably be helicopters and artillery. While they'll play a pivotal role in battles with the rock/paper/scissors model of combat, I'm not sure if they'll grandfather the current battle experience system into fighting/piloting levels.
It's also up in the air if the current weapon/gift industries will default to a certain one of the two fields they're associated with or will be given a choice to pick a weapon system to manufacture.My sanity is not in question...

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
As far as your combat strength goes it looks like you will be converting it over to levels of skill(strength) in the 4 new weapons. Admins will probably allow company owners to choose which sub industry to go into. I may have misread but I thought tanks and helicopters were titanium?
When I said the guy should have sold it for more I was referring to the fact that he actually had the company in a High wood region which I have seen very few of those for sale when I have looked and with 8 dead people I only need to hire 2 employees 1 of which could be me if needed to get the optimum 10 employees. Which makes it nice for me since I'm just getting started with a business and I'd hate to blow alot of money on it with a mistake. I look at it as business training wheels.
Oh and it's 20 gold to upgrade to Q2.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack
Upgrade it to Q2.
Why is everyone saying q1 raw materials make you more money? They don't because nobody buys q1 raw materials as they are more expensive than the other quality goods. I have a q3 grain company in Portugal and am making loads of money off of it, even though grain has dropped quite tremendously.
Maybe I'm reading your posts wrong, but it sounds like you think q1 has a better sale price than higher quality materials? q3=3 q1, which means you can go even lower with prices, as productivity does not drop very far, and you can higher more skilled employees.Hey everyone I'm trying to learn Greek, if anyone has any pointers please PM me!
