    Economy mod -

They are going to redistribute resources to regions along with adding more resources and items to build. I believe along with this they will also be adding in more business tools for company owners.

    War mod -

They are going to be making changes to how battles work. A PvP system similar to what was in beta.

Hopefully between these two mods they will also fix some bugs and correct some territory borders.

The battle for New Jersey has started.

I think i'm prepared for it this time. I have 9 Q1 weapons, 3 Q3 gifts so I can make an extra attack and not mess up my productivity too bad and 3 Q2 food to get me thru the next couple days and gain back some wellness while I'm at it.

You know, considering the amount of activity in eRepublik here we should probably ask to get a board in the web games section like WeeWars or Ikariam. Lost track of how many people are actually playing, but might help keep this information organized with a dedicated board.

From what I can tell there are only 6 of us actively playing.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack

Here's a serious question: Is a house worth the investment initially?

Everyone says getting a Q1 house after hitting level 5 will make life a lot easier, but I can't see if getting it is actually worth it.

A house adds value to the food you eat so a Q1 house makes Q1 food return a Q2 benefit.

Current value of Q1 food is approximately 1 USD
Current value of Q2 food is approximately 2 USD
Current value of Q3 food is approximately 4 USD
Current value of Q4 food is approximately 6 USD
Current value of Q5 food is approximately 9 USD
Market value of a Q1 house is currently approximately 240 USD
Market value of a Q2 house is currently approximately 470 USD
Market value of a Q3 house is currently approximately 850 USD

To make the value of a Q1 house cost efficient you would:
Require Q2 food and sustain yourself for 240 days on Q1 food.
Require Q3 food and sustain yourself for 120 days on Q2 food.
Require Q4 food and sustain yourself for 120 days on Q3 food.
Require Q5 food and sustain yourself for 80 days on Q4 food.

To make the value of a Q2 house cost efficient you would:
Require Q3 food and sustain yourself for 157 days on Q1 food.
Require Q4 food and sustain yourself for 118 days on Q2 food.
Require Q5 food and sustain yourself for 94 days on Q3 food.

To make the value of a Q3 house cost efficient you would:
Require Q4 food and sustain yourself for 170 days on Q1 food.
Require Q5 food and sustain yourself for 122 days on Q2 food.

There's actually a very handy table on the eUS forums that shows where your wellness will level out depending on how much you spend working and training versus how much you regenerate back from living standards.

That means in times of peace if you were to do nothing but eat, work, and sleep your wellness will go up and down at rates that will cause you to level out at a specific point.

Wellness expense = QN of job + 1 if training (+0 if not training)
Wellness return = QX of food + QY of house

In times of WAR as long as you maintain a wellness of (110 - (QZ of hospital * 10)) then you will always be at 100 wellness. Why? Well if you have 60 wellness and a Q5 hospital (which is the ONLY hospital in eUS at the moment in Florida) then the order of things to do would be:
    1) Fight once
    2) Heal at the hospital (+10 * QZ of hospital)
    3) Work
    4) Train
Fighting will net you -10 wellness to 50. Healing will net you +50 wellness to bump you to 100. Working when at peak wellness will improve your productivity. Training after work just burns off an extra point of wellness so your gains will be higher at midnight since wellness returns are curved so the lower your wellness the higher your gains.

If you slow your XP growth slightly by not always fighting the maximum sustainable times (50 times and heal for 50 for 0 net gain/loss) then you could possibly live on Q1 food and profit from it as your occupational skill levels up and your pay increases.

    0 skill ~ 1USD/day
    1 skill ~ 2USD/day
    2 skill ~ 5USD/day
    3 skill ~ 9USD/day
    4 skill ~ 12USD/day (though I see 15 from time to time)

It takes 2 days to get from level 0 to level 1 (+0.5 per day)
It takes 4 days to get from level 1 to level 2 (+0.25 per day)
It takes 10 days to get from level 2 to level 3 (+0.1 per day)
It takes 20 days to get from level 3 to level 4 (+0.05 per day)

Since you can only quit your job every 3 days that means the day's earnings can be seen as:
1-3: 1USD/day for 3USD. 1USD/day for Q1 food for net gain of 0 (unless you ask for a raise after the 2nd day and get one from your manager)
    4-6: 2USD/day for 6USD. 3USD spend for Q1 food for net gain of 3USD
    7-17: 5USD/day for 50USD. 10USD spent for Q1 food for net gain of 40USD
    18-27: 9USD/day for 180USD. 20USD spent for Q1 food for net gain of 160USD
    28-30: 12USD/day for 36USD. 3USD spent for Q1 food for net gain of 33USD + 5 gold (hard worker)

End of first 30 days: 236 USD + 15 gold (level 5, refereed reaching level 6, and hard worker) all without buying a house. At that point you could probably purchase a house without exchanging gold if you worked the job market and got wages above the minimum and have 15 gold for something else like try and start a business or get deeper into the game.

In times of peace working a Q1 job and training yourself you would only need Q4 food or 6USD/day to maintain a wellness level of 100 or around 85 wellness with Q3 for 4USD/day. Q3 is easily purchasable with a skill level of 2 (day 7) and Q4 is purchasable with a skill level of 3 (day 18). By the time the cost of a house repays itself (day 138) you'll have made significantly more at increasingly higher skill levels then the cost of the house itself. Hell, without a house and in times of war you'll end up with 1031USD making minimum wage and after exchanging all gold for USD in just 30 days.

That chart has always confused me Tarenth. Hell I still don't understand the X and Y relationships yet. It's too confusing for me.

Anyways, Just aim to work a Q1 job and train. Don't spend on weapons unless you really need it. Buy a house and buy some Q1 food.

Though in my case, it seems anything above Q2 food only gives me 2 health (currently at 92). Anyone understand why that is? Isn't Q3 food supposed to restore my health by 3 (and Q4 for 4, etc) the next day?

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack

Acreo - you get diminishing returns the higher your wellness gets. If you have a Q1 house I wouldn't get higher than Q2 or maybe Q3 food if the price was good enough but it usually isn't.

That chart had confused me also. Here is an explanation. On the left side you add the quality of your house and what food you are eating, ex Q1 house + Q1 food = 2 then total the wellness your losing each day. Forget about fighting and just use 1 work + 1 train = 2.

Now in theory we are gaining +2 and losing -2 wellness each day but due to diminishing returns we are only gaining part of the +2.

Look at the chart. At the intersection of 2 and 2 is 52 wellness. This is the point where you will break even. So if you started with 100 wellness and had a Q1 house and ate Q1 food then worked and trained each day your wellness would continue dropping until it reached 52 at which point your wellness would hover until you changed your routine.

Now if you look at the chart again and assume you work at a Q1 company and train each day your best combo of house to food needs to equal 4 keeping you at 100 wellness or 3 which will keep you at 85 wellness.

Just keep in mind that the higher your wellness the more productive you can be and the better your employer will like you.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack

Hehe forgot about your question Tarenth.

Right now since we can fight each day you can get by without a house and still use low quality food. You just have to remember to fight and heal each day. During war times you level alot quicker also so you might want to hold onto your gold and wait for a Q3-Q5 house.

    Edit:
Don't forget a house is not something that you just throw away when your done with it either. You can trade it in when you buy your new house to lower the cost.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack

Seems like the war is starting to wind down. How sad.

Acreo, it was the dogma of "buy a house and buy food" that I was questioning in my long spiel. Scattershot has the right of it in regards to QX regeneration (food + house) being nonlinear the closer you get to 'perfect'. The higher you are the less returns you'll get on higher quality food and housing. If you want to level out faster and save some money it's actually more cost efficient to use Q1 food and no housing till you approach your 'equilibrium level' and then switch to the QX and QY food/house combination to stabilize yourself.

Using Acreo as an example and an explanation of the chart:

Acreo works at a Q1 manufacturing company (making moving tickets specifically, but that's not important) and has a skill level of 4.06.

    Every day he works costs 1 wellness because the company is Q1 (2 for Q2, 3 for Q3, 4 for Q4, 5 for Q5)
Every day he trains costs 1 wellness
He has a total cost of 2 wellness per day to train and work

If you were to eat Q1 food and have no house your wellness would drop slightly every day (down 2 up 1) till your wellness hits 0. Q1 food with -2 wellness/day is unsustainable.

If you were to eat Q1 food and have a Q1 house your wellness would drop slightly every day (down 2, up 2) till your wellness hits 52 and then it would stop dropping. Why? Because due to the curve in gains if your wellness is over 52 you will get less than 2 points from the Q2 regen (Q1 food + Q1 house or Q2 food only), but if your wellness is under 52 you will get more than 2 points.

If you were to eat Q2 food with a Q1 house your wellness would drop slightly every day (down 2, up 3) until your wellness hits 85 and then it would stop dropping. Why? Because due to the curve in gains if your wellness is over 85 you will get less than 2 wellness per day from the Q3 regen (Q2 food + Q1 house, Q1 food + Q2 house, or Q3 food only), but if your wellness was under 85 you would get more than 2 wellness per day.

If you were to eat Q3 food with a Q1 house your wellness would rise every day (down 2, up 4) until your wellness peeks at 100. Why? Because regardless of the curve the Q4 regen (Q1 food + Q3 house, Q2 food + Q2 house, Q3 food + Q1 house, Q4 food only) makes more than 2 wellness per day at 98 wellness so you will end at 100.

To maintain the highest possible wellness for the least amount of cost you should actually alternate your food between one that will lower your wellness and one that will raise your wellness. That's because the lower your wellness the higher the gains from your food and house.

    Example:
If Acreo is sitting at 100.
He works and trains and thus drops to 98 wellness.
Eating Q1 food with a Q1 house will increase his wellness to 98.something (Q2 gains, 52 equilibrium)
Working and training the next day would drop his wellness to 96.something
Eating Q3 food with a Q1 house will increase his wellness to 98.something higher (Q4 gains, 100 equilibrium)
    Repeat

Such a process would leave your productivity wellness between 98-99, but save you 3USD every other day in food costs.
Of course, going back to my argument against buying a house. Lets say after the war I have a wellness of 100 (not hard with the hospital). Well to get a productivity wellness of 98 I would do the same process as Acreo, except buying Q4 food instead of Q3 food because I have no house.
    I spend 7USD every 2 days (Q4 food is 6 USD and Q1 food is 1USD) for a cost of living of 3.5 USD/day
Acreo spends 5 USD every 2 days (Q3 food is 4USD and Q1 food is 1USD) for a cost of living of 2.5USD/day
Acreo also has a house worth 185.50 USD on the market while I have 240 USD in cash.
For Acreo's investment to be worth mine he would have to use his house for 55 days before he starts to make money off his investment.

Re: eRepublik - America Under Attack

The war isn't running down just yet. It just isn't in our face now. We still need to get Hungary out of NA and from the forums I believe they are fortifying Alaska. Then there seems to be plans to free the other occupied regions around the world. If that isn't enough then there is what to finally do with PEACE. I'm sure there is enough to keep us busy for another month if not longer.

I have the feeling that another war will break out before this is over but that's just me.

As far as houses go right now wages are inflated, costs are down a bit and people are leveling quickly so you can get by easily without the house and just pay for the food. Ultimately the only reason to need a house is to work at higher quality jobs. Since we are leveling quickly it's easier to wait until you have enough to just buy a high quality house.

One thing I would suggest is to buy an organization for 5 gold. It gives you extra storage space, somewhere to stockpile items not immediately needed an easy gifting partner and your first step to owning your own business.

At least we got most of the continental US back. Once we take Alaska (which should be done in a day), we'll probably head over and pay Russia a visit. We can bring all the SPAM and moonshine we please when we start partying on PEACE's home front.
