Oh, how could I forget Close Combat? Close Combat III is better than Starcraft, definitely. So I guess my ranking now looks like this:
1. Warcraft III
2. Homeworld 2

Red Alert 2 - most frantic and replay value. Act of War: High Treason - best RTS Single player ever. Extremely tactical. Rome:TW - just freaking awesome.

I'm not a big fan of RTSs, but warcraft 3 and homeworld both kept me interested for a while.

Hrm, tough choice, theres alot and each brings its own gameplay to the table.
The original CNC, <3.
Warcraft 3 + Frozen Throne, love its storyline and all the custom maps it has.
Red Alert 2 + Yuris Revenge, had lots of fun with this.
Starcraft + BW, Dark Templar rush ftw.

I'm one of the few (apparently) here that enjoys C&C Generals: Zero hour. I freakin love that game-now I read there's a new C&C coming out that'll be more true to the past series. Can't wait.

Those of you who liked Total Annihilation might want to check out [url=http://taspring.clan-sy.com/] Spring, a a full 3D open source reworking of TA. It's a great improvement graphically, and should be fun to play. NB: In order to legally use this, you must own a copy of the original game.

Generals is utter crap, all I see is EA making a rts and giving it the name Command and Conquer, and the new CNC coming out is going to be built on the Generals engine I belive.

TA was awesome. TONS of buildings and units to make. My second favorite is Rise of Nations. It was fun to create huge divisions, either all armored, all artillery, all infantry, or a combination. Equally fun to keep your supply lines good enough to keep sending new troops to each division.
