Dawn of War. I like not having to bother with 'harvesting' resources or lots of micro managing.
The alien fails because it cannot embrace the Emperor.

There are only 3 things that need fixing with generals. Firstly, the path finding is still pretty crap in places. Artillery units don't remain in place when you deploy them or set them to guard. If they behaved the way deployed NOD artillery in TS did, that'd be awesome. Finally, if you select a bunch of aircraft and send them after a target, they'll all unload their entire complement of missiles, rather than the bare minimum necessary to do the job.

I suppose a fourth annoyance is the fact that the default icon is called "command and conquer generals zero hour" when simply calling it "zero hour" or "ZH" would do just fine.

Whilst these issues can be a PITA, the game is still pretty good, as long as you have the ZH expansion.

Starcraft (BW) had the best feel, while WarIII has an insanely powerful map editor. If you could somehow splice the editing tools (and maybe the hero system) from WarIII into the Starcraft engine, you'd have the best RTS game ever made.

For the record, I think 3-D graphics hurt RTS games more than help. Starcraft (and most other RTS games released before WarIII) used Isometric graphics (I think thats the term), while WarIII uses true-3d, and totally aside from the impacts on system requirements, it noticeably impacts the command interface, especially when dealing with things like really tall units, really large units, or really small units. The graphical improvement is pretty minor, as Isometric 3D looks almost as good as True 3D most of the time anyway.
