Re: Company of Heroes
Looks to be a fun game. I think I'll download the demo and give it a go based on everyone's feed back.

Re: Company of Heroes
One of the small things I have enjoyed about the game is the sounds. You can be on the far side of the map concentrating on a control point's defenses when you here the rolling thunder of distant artillery and mortars, and the crackling of small arms fire. If you mess around with cinematic views you can see the flashes in the distant fog of war as well. Just small touches that add to the experience.

Aculle you sneaky ..., you got me
It was in my favorite games movies, funny indeed.
Just to be on the same side, lets warn the others who didnt know much about Theater of War that this movie is just to show the game engine. Game itself is not going to be like that. If it does, that is the day I pack my PC and throw it out of the window

Dont believe him Grunt, Aculle is working for Relic and they did this movie to sabotage ToW...
Welcome Shiner. The platoon system I posted works best as an assault strategy on a terrain with choke points. Last night, I was playing an open field map and it was a disaster. I had to extend my platoon over a line and it was total chaos. Different battlegrounds require different strategies of course. Tonight I will try a new organizational system. Two platoons, each with scout, armor, mechanized infantry and fast response units. And a shared artillery team positioned in between their operation zones to provide barrage for both. Lets see if I will be able to defend an extended line against enemy without turning the game into a click-fest...

Re: Company of Heroes
Ive been using the regular infantry commander with good success, but airborne is awesome. They're very versatile and the supply drops can give any airborne squad a mortar and an MG, so long as you have enough money to drop more guys in. Its also nice to be able to drop the AT gun.

Re: Company of Heroes
im lovin the single player campaign. Its a lot easier so far than the skirmishes.
Yea, airborne is awesome...gotta love those bombing runs. Also, on the germany side, the blizgrieg (sp) doctrine is just ownage. Between the tiger tanks and the "use munitions to gain production", you cant beat it.

Re: Company of Heroes
I've been able to beat the computer at any difficulty level with the Germans very easy - once you get two Panzers or Tiger + Panzer, just head to their base and it's game over. I don't imagine a human opponent would be so easy.

Re: Company of Heroes
In the demo, how do you pause the game?
I am sure it is mentioned in the tutorial, but I dont feel like going through it again.

Re: Company of Heroes
Snail - once you start engaging the enemy for control of CPs, you're going to be fighting his whole army anyways. If you're strong enough to decisively push him back, you may be strong enough to defeat him.

Re: Company of Heroes
A quick tank rush may work against the AI (idk, I haven't really played much skirmish), but this will most likely not work against a human opponent of any competency. Early tanks in this game are there to support infantry pushes, and are easily countered by AT Guns/Tank Destroyers.
A Tiger is always a big deal, but if you move it unsupported, it will get killed very easily.
