You can download the demo at a pretty fast clip from filefront.
Also, there are various tuts in video form. I hope this will help anyone who may be interested in this game.

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
Much more polished then the multiplayer demo (from the versions I played at least). I'm looking forward to seeing this when I upgrade to a dual core.

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
I am currently running a AMD 4400+ @2.2GHz.
Through my testing I have come to the conclusion that SC may not be optimized for Dual Core computers. I came to this conclusion after noticing that while I have SC running. A single core will always be near full use at or around 93%. When things start heating up this goes up to 100%. While my frame rates are steadily holding around 13 FPS using a 8800GTX. The actualy game designers Gas Powered Games has stated that SC depends more on CPU strength than sheer Graphics Power.
So Intel C2D will hopefully be my next upgrade. When I get a new HD, mobo and perhaps even test out Vista.

Im on a AMD 3400 at 2.2 OC'd, and I'll be upgrading to a 3800 x2 that is capable of 2.6 OC'd on air.

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
I don't understand why you think it's not using both cores. What usage percentage is the other core hovering at?

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
I have a reading off of the G15 moniter.
Basically it displays the cores as dual bars.
Usually it hovers around 95% on one core so the corresponding bar is at that percentage. I usually have to go into the Task Manager properties and just look at the affinity page for the 2nd core to kick in.

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
One core's at 95%, but what's the other core at? 0? It might just be a display error, especially if your performance doesn't change after looking at the Task Manager.

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
Alright, I went from a 3500+ oc'd to 2.2 to a dual core 3800+ oc'd to a 2.5 (I think I can hit 2.6). A HUGE difference in the amount of units I see on the screen without losing fps. I think there certainly is a benefit to having multiple cores in this game.

www.hardforums.com Scroll down to either the over clocking forum, or the AMD forum. There are tons of resources there.

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
So playing the retail version of SC I have come to one all important conclusion.
The computer cheats.
Its like your team, regardless which faction you choose, gets all the military drop outs and the computer uses the elites. Your towers and batteries will unload countless rounds into the side of a mountain because the computer landed a plane up there while tanks roll up and blow them away unopposed. Torpedo bombers will make 4 passes and circle over their target before figuring out "Ayep, the target the commander told me to blow up and is shooting at me is hostile" at which point in time the wing of 5 planes have been shot out of the sky. Of course, if the computer sends in a single torpedo bomber against a flotilla of 3 cruisers and 5 frigates that plane will blow away 2 cruisers and 3 frigates before getting shot down. A single scout can circle your base for 3 full minutes before 5 T1-AA towers, 10 T2-Mobile AA, and 7 Frigates FINALLY shoot it down in what must've been a lucky shot. On the flip side, if you fly your scout at the very maximum range of their T1-AA tower? One shot, one burning plane.
The obsurd AI imbalance makes micro managementof your troops neccesary and extremely important, but over all its a fun game. The detail is extrodinary where you can pause the game and zoom in on a single round in flight and see if its a bullet, rocket, or energy pulse in full detail. I'll probably be playing it when BF2142 and WoW:TBC just doesn't scratch my tactical itch much.My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.

Re: Supreme Commander: Februaury Release
You can be surprised what you can pick up at small computer fairs and retail conventions. A friend of mine saw copies on sale at a fair and picked up a few and one made its way to me.
Comes in a plastic bag with a picture of the cover and a few loose pages, but it works, its legal, and cheaper without the box even if it was a bit before 'release' date.My sanity is not in question...
