Re: Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War --- Who plays this?
Let's talk about setting up a time to do this. I'm thinking that maybe a Saturday would be good. I don't think there are any conflicting TG events that we might bump into. I'm also free most weeknights except for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Could anyone give me their impressions on dark eldar? I get the feeling they will be more micro based eldar, and even more specialized. So they will probably be beyond my very meager rts skills.

Re: Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War --- Who plays this?
The word on Relic's forums is that they are indeed more micro intensive but, at the same time, they have more stopping power. Apparently, their uber units are able to lay waste to most things in one shot within a cone-of-fire when "fully charged" - but those come from reports of the demo and I expect that they'll see some tuning and balance adjustments before it hits the shelves. It isn't a done deal just yet.
I haven't tried the demo yet, but will in the next day or so. Demos are never truly representative of what the finished product will be like (BF2 demo, anyone?) so I've been reluctant to waste me time downloading it. Relic has yet to disappointment me with this game and I'll likely have the it on my desk on the first day of release either way based purely on past experiences with the franchise. ![]() Back to scheduling a couple games, what does everyone think about 1600 EDT for this coming Saturday?

good for me if I can find my disks, I take it we will play dark crusade? Also dark eldar being eldar with more stopping power is going to be horribly imba, when used right eldar have units that can rip people in half with no trouble already.

Re: Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War --- Who plays this?
I think the tweak with the DE is that they must "reap" souls in order to power their abilities and most powerful weapons. They also don't get Fleet of Foot, although they are slightly faster than Craftworld Eldar. Unless I am mistaken, the DE also lack web way portals, so they won't be as effective at backdooring bases like the Eldar tend to be. (Teleport a bonsinger in, build a gate, cloak... annoying early-game surprise on some maps)
And yes, DC will be the preferred game.

Sat 1600 EST works for me. Let's confirm on Friday so we can get a good headcount.

Sounds good. I couldn't find my disks so I re-bought the game off Steam. $30 for the game and the two expansions, can't beat that (I didn't have the 2nd expansion, which alone costs $30 at my local EB Games).

Re: Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War --- Who plays this?
I thought a roster might help make identifying confirmed participants (for this Saturday the 19th at 1600 EDT) a little easier:
)It might also be prudent if we logged into TS early so that we're all on the same page and ready to go. On a side note, some time ago I created this thread where DoW enthusiasts could discuss everything from build orders to strategy and specific map tactics. It hasn't seen much use, but I figure it's still a good place to talk about what worked well for us when we play and what didn't. I'm always looking for new ideas so, please, have a look through and contribute.

Re: Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War --- Who plays this?
I'll give you very fair warning, compared to my little fps skill, my skills in rts make me luck like a paraplegic chimp; or in normal terms I can't beat the bots in starcraft. I should be able to find my disks, last I remember they were right next to my desk, but I haven't been home for 2 weeks so I will need to find them on friday.
