Where is the Clan located?
Server: Currently
"Pegasus" (east coast)
Location: As time goes on, eventually we will decide on a Planet and Base where most of our group ops will originate from. By default, every continent’s main base will be the general meeting place. Our beginning zone (Wilderness) Server Instance of choice is usually
Wilderness 7.
Is Tactical Gamer the Clan for me?
The best way to find out is to give us a try. You can hang out in the forums to see what we’re about. You can join us on TeamSpeak to eavesdrop on the conversations (must have an active forum account and click the teamspeak link in the upper left of the forum pages). You can tag along on Clan outings if there is space available, which is basically all the time since there are no real group-size restrictions. When you do join the Clan, we have a 14 day period in which you have “PFC” status. Think of this as a mutual trial period. This trial period may be extended if you are not actively playing your character during the recruit phase.
What sort of Clan is TG?
Tactical Gamer is a Clan created around the idea of mature gamers using teamwork and sound tactical gameplay to accomplish game-based goals. Tactical Gamer is a casual PvE AND PvP Clan for mature (18+) players. We offer a friendly, cooperative home for skilled and dedicated players. We do not require minimum attendance from our members since we recognize the need to balance TR with RL obligations of family, work and other commitments.
**Emphasizing our true Tactical Gamer heritage, the
TG-TR clan is a “community” rather than a singular clan.
TG in its entirety, represents nearly a decade of organized gaming and over 18,000 registered members. Needless to say, games come and go, but
TG remains eternal. That having been said, it is entirely possible for one to form their own Clan upholding the greater
TG principles, but having a distinctive flavor of their own. The benefits of
TG membership will still hold true as long as the
TG creed is maintained. Regardless, there is of course a singular
TG Tabula Rasa Clan that most anyone is welcome to join (that’s probably why you’re reading this). But we will not turn away those Clans that wish to take part in the larger
TG community and still maintain their sovereignty.
Do you have an age requirement?
You must be 18 or older to join the Tactical Gamer Clan. Clan member or not, we welcome all players to run with us provided that you want to work cooperatively as part of a team and act in a mature manner.
How do I join?
After you have read the
TG Creed and Values statement, indicate your interest by completing the registration information in the
TG Application thread. You can expect to be contacted by an officer. It is in your interest to spend time during that 14 day period interacting with Clan members via Clan chat, Teamspeak and by grouping for gameplay. If we don't know who you are from first hand experience, then it is pretty hard to change your status to full membership.
Forums, Forums, Forums!!!
If you're not checking the forums daily...yes, DAILY... you're missing out on important information as a Clan member. Failure to check in regularly will lead to missing out on Clan updates, events and other important information. Not to mention the shear value of the tacticalgamer.com website as a whole. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better gaming forum with a more wonderful group of wonderful people. Actually, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better forum, period.
What sort of end-game activities do you have?
NCSoft currently has not solidified their timetable with regards to “elder content” in TR. This of course means it’s tough to really plan activities around something that doesn’t exist. Currently, end-game consists of large-scale PvP, high level grouped instance runs, and Control Point assault/defense. All of this will be in the
TG plan from day (1) and you can expect to be a part of many Clan events when the time is right and enough of us have maxed our levels. Aside from that. whenever content gets released, you can be sure
TG will be all over it and never pigeon-holed into one style of play. Expect to see a Calendar of events posted and available not far from release-day.
How do I sign up for instances, raids, etc?
At this time, there is no need to “sign up” for any organized events
TG may be having. One thing that’s nice about TR, it’s a VERY flexible game. Just bring your gameface and you’re good to go. Having said that, you MAY encounter times when organization is paramount and people and/or
TG may wish to put together something more concrete. Above all else, PAY ATTENTION TO THE FORUMS. Any special PvP-actions or instance runs where people need a head-count will of course require a /sign. Simply respond and you should be good to go. Again, the requirements for a TR group are very lax, so the only worry one may need to have is whether or not the area is within their level capability. Remember, the maximum size any instance group can be is 6 (instances are scalable also) and everyone must be within 5 levels of eachother to maintain a balanced xp/loot table.
How do you handle loot?
Loot is "need over greed" unless stated prior to the run. Preference should be given to those that will UPGRADE instead of “side-grading.” What does this mean?
Example:
A Thrax instance boss drops a purple lvl 15 Leech Gun with EMP resist.
You already have a lvl 17 Leech Gun, but with no EMP resist. The Clanmate next to you is also a Specialist, but only has a lvl 10 Leech Gun and sorely needs an upgrade. What does this mean? This means you DON’T roll on that gun (if a roll is necessary). Let your Clanmate get the upgrade. Reason being, a Clan’s strength is judged as a whole… not by the few nice pieces of lewt a few members have. By “side-grading” just so you can have a gun with EMP resist, you effectively weaken the Clan because a lower geared clanmate (who’ll be present on future runs) will be likely stuck with a gun 5 levels lower.
It IS a bit more simple then it sounds here though due to how the loot system in Tabula Rasa works. Generally, most loot in TR is totally tradeable even after you’ve grabbed it. This being the case, there should never really be any issue during a group action. Even if someone picks up something they think they shouldn’t have, they can easily change their minds and simply give the item to someone who needs it. Another fortunate effect of this is, say you intend to replace your old lvl 17 Leech Gun with the lvl 15 purple… well, then you can simply give your old lvl 17 to your clanmate and keep the lvl 15 purple.
The complexity in Tabula Rasa of course relates to CLONES. There will be people who like to play a variety of styles and may try to claim an item that drops for a clone they have stashed away (even though that clone is not physically in the group). Unless you’ve arranged PRIOR to the run that you’d be rolling for your Clone, you by no means have a right to roll on the item. If it’s deemed no one in the group NEEDS the item, then it can be discussed if your clone is a viable candidate for it vs. perhaps someone elses Clone or even someone in the Clan that needs it more. Remember, if you intend on looting for your Clone – speak up at the beginning of the run. And you cannot FLIP FLOP loot rolls between your clone and your main, unless otherwise stated during the run.
Above all else, COMMUNICATE with those in your group. Learn what people need before, during, and after a run. Try to make sure an item is tradeable after you pick it up; if it’s NOT, be sure you NEED it and it’s not simply just another toy. If it is something you need, try to make sure someone (either currently or in the near-future) can use the gun you wish to replace it for.
Do you guys PVP?
Yes we do, but we are not a PvP-focused Clan. PVP is an individual choice as well and not one of only Clan focus. We will do periodic Clan groupings for PVP and schedule "PVP Nights" from time to time to support this. The ClanWar format in TR is great because we can hop in and out of PvP at will. Even though wars are 7 days in length, we can also decide to surrender if it becomes too disruptive to the PvE aspects of the game. Generally, at the lower lvls we wont be PvPing very much. Once people get around lvl 30, we anticipate declaring War on rival Clans more regularly.
TG (many years ago) was of course founded on organized PvP play. It WILL be a necessary part of the game we play within the world of Tabula Rasa, especially during “elder content.” When this time comes, be prepared to put
TG tactics to good use.
**Those folks who have NO interest in PvP, fear not. You can expect Tactical Gamer to have a Clan that's STRICTLY PvE only (with clanwars not an option). We're aware some people have no desire to have PvP interfere with their style of gameplay, so we of course will honor that fully. Remember to input your intention to PvP or not in your Clan Application and/or contact an officer and we'll put you in the appropriate
TG Clan. Later on, if you wish to switch... no harm no foul.
Can I get help with my lower level character?
Absolutely! The best way to get help is by checking the in-game Clan roster and chatting/whispering with others around your level to form a group. Bigger quests and instance runs can be announced/requested in the
TG forums ahead of time so that people can learn about it, express interest, and plan for being there. Higher level players can also help out from time to time, but we expect you to do most of the "heavy lifting" around leveling on your own.
What happens if I want to join another Clan?
If you are a
TG member and decide that you would be happier in another Clan, we wish you well. We also expect you to immediately cease your membership in
TG (Tabula Rasa) at the time you apply to another Clan. While we understand that there can be many reasons to change Clans, remaining a member in
TG while actively seeking to join another Clan is inconsistent with our goals.
If you believe you have valid reasons for staying in
TG while seeking to join another Clan, you may request consideration of your situation by one of the
TG senior officers.
**If you wish to join/form another Clan that’s already a part of the larger Tactical Gamer Community, of course this is no problem. But simple courtesy should be given in advance to the Clan you intend to leave.
How do I get one those cool looking signatures?
Easy! Make your own and add it to your forum profile! Eventually, we may have dynamic signatures available for the Tabula Rasa game. Currently, this is not an available feature though. So making (or stealing – tsk tsk) your own is the best option.
Who are the officers of the Tactical Gamer Clan?
Please see the Clan
Officers Roster (click link) for our most up to date list of our officers. In-game, all listed “Captains” are officers of the Tactical Gamer Clan.
How is rank structured within the Clan?
The current ranks follow historical U.S. Marine Corps rank structure (subject to change of course):
Officers:
Brigadier General - Leader of the Clan. Although the rank structure is militaristic, our stance is not one of a Dictatorship. The Brig. Gen. is not the be-all end-all of the Clan. The
TG-TR clan is one of brotherhood and collective input and interface. It is NOT the sole responsibility of the Brig.Gen. to organize, lead, and/or announce ANY clan events. While the leader reserves the right, ANYONE in
TG (officer or otherwise) may make any suggestion or announcement they’d like to make. Having said this, it’s obviously still expected of the Clan Leader to take the lead when it comes to maintaining the clan in all functions (recruitment, clan events, adjudication, delegation, etc.)
Captain – Main Officers of the Clan. There will be also be, but not limited to, ONE(1) Captain per class (exobio, spy, medic, etc.) designated as a Class Officer. These officers have the responsibility of helping disseminate important class-related info. to members of their class, as well as seeing loot gets evenly distributed where possible. Most importantly, the Class Officers are expected to know the strengths and weaknesses of those within their class; when a group action is planned, this makes it easier to place people in appropriate roles. Officers in general are charged with representing
TG with grace and taking creative Leadership roles whenever able. In all reality, it is the Captains who make the Tabula Rasa clan click. They are the leaders, organizers, and teachers of the Clan as well as ambassadors of their class (when tagged a class officer).
Enlisted:
Sergeant – A hardened
TG clanmember. The heart and soul of the Clan are the enlisted ranks. The Sergeant represents a commitment to the Clan and is the tip of the spear when it comes to Clan action. Although not an officer, a Sergeant has the same voice a Captain or Brigadier does. If he/she has a suggestion or an op (operation) they’d like to plan, then by all means they take the lead. Being an enlisted man doesn’t mean you get to sit back, relax, and just take orders. You’re expected to give some yourself. The forums are your friend. Have info. to share, a suggestion, or op to run?? Post it and take charge!
PFC - (Private First Class). Welp, if you’ve got this rank you’re basically fresh outta’ Boot and a “Grunt.” This rank is reserved for new members of
TG who are undergoing the probationary period. If all is well and an Officer supports it, the PFC will be moved up to Sergeant once the time is right. Again, this by no means says that PFCs are “second-class” clanmembers. Quite the contrary, as a PFC it behooves you to take
TG membership seriously and be active from day one. As the “new guy” obviously it’s sometimes wise not to be too pushy, but that doesn’t mean you get a free pass to remain silent.
How do I get on Teamspeak?
Once you register on the TacticalGamer forum, your personalized Teamspeak info. will be available to you via the "TeamSpeak" link in the upper left corner of your forum page. You can also simply click here:

What is a “Supporting Member”?
Tactical Gamer is a large community that encompasses more than our Clan, and more than this one game.
TG has over 18,000 members, and boasts numerous resources that it makes available to its members: Multiple game servers, Teamspeak, forums, and webhosting, and email are just a few of the many awesome things that
TG provides for us.
Without our supporting members, Tactical Gamer would simply cease to exist. Our subscribing members, through a revolving monthly contribution of $8.95, keep our servers up to date, running, and allow us to develop new features for the community. Every resource we have is directly attributed to the generosity of our contributing members. We are always thankful for these generous folks, and often look to find ways to thank them that are tangible and cross all of our gaming communities.
In an effort to encourage our Clan members to become contributors to the greater community, you are invited to become supporting members of Tactical Gamer. This is by no means a requirement- sometimes, contributing financially isn’t a possibility, and we never frown upon anyone unable to subscribe. Non-financial contributions, such as participating in the forums and within our Clan are priceless. We are grateful for your contribution, no matter what form it takes. But, if it is an option for you to become a supporting member, we ask you to strongly consider it. We want our Clan to be known for supporting the greater community.
