**Character Builds**
Here's a link to what's currently the best Character Builder available. It's the most updated and most polished at this time:
http://zeus.jrq.ch/trcb/
Advice: Try to think of what style of character you want to play (w/o thinking of a class) and then try to build it with the builder from the top down (lvl 50 to lvl 1). Example: you want to build an "AFS-monk." Basically a can of melee woopass with hefty Logos ability and perhaps some healing ability. You're gonna want a melee medic. So pump up your h2h and concentrate on your tier 4 abilities. Fill in the in-betweens as needed, but armor-wise you'd probably want to focus on motor assist (to make hasty escapes). Frighten would also be smart to add some distance to enemies. For a pure melee build, Guardian is where you want to look. You could call the Guardian build a monk also, but I've always looked at monks as having healing ability. Anyways, just some examples.
Also, during the last few patches more onus was placed on the Health stat. This means points in Body are important again. Regen is no longer the total king of the hill, although I still believe Spirit should always be Higher than body, especially if you expect to fling a lot of Logos. Try to remember to set your Attributes to cater to the style of play you like. Do them AFTER you finish your skill build. Example: if you've put points into tools, bioarmor, or medic abilities... then spending Attribute points in Body is kind of redundant. Or, if you build a toon that requires a lot of COOLDOWN skills, then dont waste attribute points in Spirit since quick regen isnt necessary. In this case, mind would perhaps be the smarter way to go.
Another smart move is NOT to spend points on crafting at ALL. You can simply make a crafting Clone at lvl 30 that can have all abilities maxed out to pump 5. The other option is to make many new characters and level each one to lvl 7, then you can pump 5 in one crafting ability for each character. The latter option is probably the most wise if you intend on taking advantage of crafting for your main character and getting a jump on the economy. Choose crafting abilities that will complement your main obviously i.e. shields for that AFS-monk. Your main can provide the mats, recipes, etc. your crafter provides the skill. Swap through the footlockers and you're done.
Lastly, although you can always respec with a Clone as long as you have Clone points, you will NOT be able to keep your same name. If you expect to have a long history with one particular character, make sure to take care in how you build him/her.
And do not feel you should build a toon any particular way. TR doesnt punish as much as other games do if you've got an "odd" build. IMO, there's a place for every type of build in this game. Just learn how to implement it most effectively. Realize you also have a Clan behind you that can provide advice as well as equipment you wouldnt normally be able to find/craft yourself. Dont feel obligated to have to do it all yourself.
Enjoy your build...

Re: **Character Builder**
Btw, if you check the link at the lower left of the character builder website... you'll see you can cut/paste a link to your build. So, that means you can link your build right here in the TG-forum.
Please feel free to post your build ideas in this thread, this will also give us a better idea of who we've got where

Exobiologist-Controller build. I'm still stuck between leech gun, decay, and lvl 3 tools (lvl 3 tools gives resurrection)

Why'd you save a build every 5 levels? You should be able to boost your level to 50 from the get-go and just spend the points as you need em; only requires one build. Or... were you that indecisive like me?

I was doing every 5 so that i could use them as i grow, so i know where to put my points, and when to save them.
When I started my character, i had the level 5 one open on my other monitor so i could see where to put my points and where not to. Once i got level 5, and my skills matched, i opened level 10...
Another thing... At 50, I'll have 5 in Firearms, BUT at level 5, I'll only have 3. At around 20 or something, I'll have 4.
I was thinking that i could just do 5, 15, 30, and 50, but i had an hour and 45 mins waiting to log in last night, so i did every 5. :P

I'm gonna have to start over =) Clones don't reset attribute points and I am going to go high mind and high spirit.
This build is going to be based on lots of group damage, speed (get in, inflict pain, get out of needed), with gravitron + mobile assist cabalities, earthquake and flamethrowings for high damage at the end, elite lightning and firearms for low-mid level.
Kinda cool huh?

Re: **Character Building**
Flamethrower is the coolest holstered weapon in the game. The death animation is also equally cool.
If you're lookin to do tankage I'd put more stats into spirit than mind. Spirit's secondary is Body.
I'm enjoying Motor Assist armor at the lower levels (makes moving around a LOT easier). BUT, I'm not puttin any points into it. Some people planned on full motor assist until lvl 30+ to make lvling quicker (and then respec), but in the end you gimp your groups if you dont use em properly.
I made a melee spy (ala "Enter the Dragon") named Bruce Lhee once... man, he was fun to play. All motor assist with full h2h, eventually polymorph, etc.. Sneak in and wtfpwn people with ninja skills, speed and blades. I even made him a nice yellow jumpsuit and big celebrity shades (ala "Faces of Death"). He'd run in and pimpslap people and then run out.
Hmmm.... i think I might make him again actually. Makes my current character (Mr. Practicality) seem boring.

Re: **Character Building**
This will be my Guardian. I'll respec my character once I get up to Tier 4. The guy I'm using now (Ray Gillespie) will be put aside for a while until I feel like making a Grenadier.

Sweet.. hopefully they'll get the class re-build in before you get to 50. From what they're planning, Medic may actually be quite overpowered. Currently, I think Medic is still pretty dang cool. The only issue is that offensively the tier 4 skills are lacking, BUT in a group a Medic is the most valuable player. The buffs and debuffs they do are ridiculous. In PvP they're the main target, if you dont take them out they can ruin your day.
Alas, people whined and they're planning on reworking the class.

http://zeus.jrq.ch/trcb/?x=503715113...64455108108108
Took a lvl out of Hortimunculus and added pumps into frighten, crafting, bio aug. and leech.
