Re: Tabula Rasa beta
I haven't logged in for a couple weeks now. Still trudging away with my 3rd char - I'm only at lvl 14 I think with that character.
This is really not a bad game, it's come a long way since I started playing it about 6 months ago maybe?
Although, it's still to much of the usual for me with some great features mixed in.
I may give it a go come live for a few months though.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
I am in game character name Kyyl Evrywan, I will look out for fellow TG'ers. Just one character so far will see how far I get before Full Release, hopefully we can keep our clones.
Hit me with an invite too, need some ppl to instance with.
Long May the FFTHFF(5th) live in our memories and our teamplay.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
clans were wiped as well unfortunately... once someone gets it back up and running we'll see about invites again. of course, more then likely there will be another char. wipe for release (would seem only fair).
In reality, this whole thing is really just an experiment to see if TR is a viable TG game - so there's nothing written in stone.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
Doesn't "Tabula Rasa" mean clean slate or begin anew?

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
I believe it means "Fresh Start" (per the game) Which was purposely representative of this game on many levels. One is the human's fresh start after being wiped out by the Bane, along with the Forean's fresh start. The other meaning has to do with the reinvention of the MMO genre, which was the ultimate goal of this game for Lord British. Lastly, and ironically, the game was itself reinvented a few years back after many setbacks due to bad management and misrepresentation of what Garriot was trying to do.
So a "Fresh Start" on many levels.
The ACTUAL meaning of Tabula Rasa is even more representative:
"Tabula rasa (Latin: scraped tablet or clean slate) refers to the epistemological thesis that individual human beings are born with no innate or built-in mental content, in a word, "blank", and that their entire resource of knowledge is built up gradually from their experiences and sensory perceptions of the outside world."
If you look deeper, you'll realize how this plays a role with the Logos tablet, which basically is built up knowledge through your adventures and explorations in the game. You begin with an empty tablet (scraped tablet) and over time it fills up and you gain extraordinary mental ability. Those logos can then be combined in certain ways (I have yet to do this though) to boost yourself, a weapon, gain a skill, etc.

I was refering to the latin meaning. I know I picked up on this phrase reading some philosophical works in the past.
