Re: Tabula Rasa beta
I've actually just been wandering around Arieki checking out the areas (im still only lvl 19). Granted, I cant get any further (Ligo, etc.) but I got an idea of what to expect. Wandering around was actually a lot easier then I'd like it to be. I wish it was harder, I assume they'll up the amount of Bane/mobs to make sub-level travel a bit harder.
Once I got to a Control Point though, I couldnt dent the mobs no matter what I tried. btw, there are some PHREAKY lookin mobs out there. We definitely havent seen them all.
Last impression I got was that I thought the levels of the mobs were too low. But, this is partly because I outleveled the game due to pre-patch grinding. Even still, they need to increase their levels. we'll see.
Next patch is on Tuesday. We should see crafting put in for sure, along with balance and tweaks, but beyond that I'm not sure what they're going to do - kind of a mystery.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
Well, I tried playing a bit more over the weekend, and this game's just not for me. Good luck to those that stay.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
I'm still tentatively interested in this, but it could go either way. A lot is going to depend on my time to play, and how fast my leveling gets left in the dust. Make or break has a lot to do with who I'm playing with.
Ugh. Please ignore my grammar!

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
Well, I already listed what I saw as the cons of the game. And, overall, it really feels much more like an arcade game than anything. Run around, shoot stuff, find hidden items. It feels like instead of making an RPG that had some FPS elements in it, they took a console FPS game and tossed in some dialog.
My first real MMO was Final Fantasy XI, and now I play WoW (though I may be retiring/going on hiatus soon). While they have the same fantasy theme overall, they were drastically different in how they played, were organized, etc. I enjoyed both thoroughly, so it's not like I'm looking for a WoW clone with a different skin. Tabula Rasa just doesn't feel like it has substance to it.
Aside from all that, the game also literally gave me a terrible motion sickness headache over the weekend (hit me Saturday, I still feel kinda icky today). It didn't do that before, so I don't know what they threw in with the most recent patch that affected how graphics are rendered, but it's messing with my head now.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
I will be sitting it out till release as well, to avoid burnout. I have resolved to play at release and see what has been done. I am hopeful, but have a guarded cynicism as to the ability of any MMO to keep my interest. I can add no comment as the previous posts have mirrored my observations and opinions.

PvP tracking is in:
http://www.rgtr.com/community/commun...pvp_pages.html
This is something I asked for in the ideas forum. Brings another "metagame" into the fold and adds another layer of content. We had it in Earth and Beyond (looked almost identical) and it was a lot of fun. It can get pretty cutthroat.
In other news:
there's supposed to be a LOT of new info. on the game coming out this week. Many of our questions should be answered.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
servers running 24/7 now?

The hungry, ignorant man immediately grasps that he is handed a fish, but is bewildered when handed a net. The man who shivers in the cold thinks happily of the man who invites him to sit by his fire, and somewhat poorly of the man who loans him an axe, flint and steel.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
affirmative (been that way for a LONG time actually). and the server outages have been fixed.
I expected a bunch of announcements this week.. here's one of them:

I dont know if this is good or bad. I have mixed feelings. If it means more TG will play, then great. If it means the buzz will wear off - 'tis bery vad.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
Still in decision mode over this one. I've been in since early beta and have enjoyed the game's progress.
However, there are things that still make me wonder if it's a "WoW" type game that I can just fall into for an extended period of time.
PvP and end game content are going to decide a lot of that for me. Another issue is that by pushing back their release date, they are now going live at the same time as Hellgate: London, so that is going to steal time from me right off the bat.
The MMO front has been REAL hit and miss lately. I'm still waiting for that Next Generation game that really just NAILS IT! Age of Conan or Warhammer are next up.
My personal money is on Warhammer, but you never can tell.
It's all in the Reflexes.

EXTREMELY important updates
I already cut and pasted in the review forums, but I figured I'd just link the news in here as well. It's very promising news at that.

This has me pretty much totally commited to playing this game and seeing where it goes. I knew for the most part about most of these announcements, but being able to back it up with actual Dev-talk is really nice. A definitive direction on where the game is going is great to hear.

Re: Tabula Rasa beta
That's the general feeling in the TR beta forums as well... LoL
I dont think I've ever seen a forum so completely turn upside down with one simple Dev post... not since the SOE NGE post. Everyone in the forum is all koombaya now and banging down the doors to get their hands on the game.
If they deliver all this with quality then it'll be tough not to mention TR as a candidate for best MMO. Now, if I can only get them to loosen up their 3rd party content rules, we'd be set.
