I chatted briefly about this last night in-game. The main issue we've got right now is a split between games.

While Tabula Rasa will probably be the 1st "next-gen" MMO to be released from the top 5, impending releases will invarably water down participation. We've got PotBS coming soon, Gods and Heroes, Conan, and eventually Warhammer and Huxley.

PotBS WOULD'VE been 1st on TG's "gaming plate," but disorganization from the developers with regards to distribution have delayed its release. There's also no news of any open beta, pre-order or not. TR on the other hand already has distro in place including a robust pre-order/beta program. Meaning, as of now ANYONE can literally play the game for a nominal fee if they dont get into the beta on their own merit.

Soooo... right now, TR is the easiest new MMO for TG to get their feet wet in until the others get their ducks in a row. My feeling is I WILL be playing this game at least until I find a better one (aside from WoW).

My hope is that we can get enough current TG members to try it out so we dont have to recruit heavily. In a nutshell, it's the only true tactical/fps-mmo there is until Huxley gets released... that in itself is reason enough to give it a shot.

As said, next week will be a LARGE patch along with a server wipe. We'll probably be seeing basically the "release client" from this patch. Servers will be 24/7 and we're good to go. Look at it as a free game TG can play together. If we like it, we'll support it. If we dont, we'll drop it. At the very least we'll have 1 month+ to try it out.

Anyways, the wipe is on Sept. 6th I believe. So the more people we get at the same time the easier it is to move up the lvl-grind together. I'll be working unfortunately so I wont be around until the 10th or so.

I know it was my intention to get something started here at TG for Tabula Rasa but, real life has been kickin me in the arse as of late. I have a move planned to dallas at the end of the week and besides the forums my internet connection is going to be nill till late october.

Is the clan going to be PVP oriented?

There was some discussion about that, and a couple of options were proposed. We could have 2 clans, one pvp and the other carebear (please excuse my bias ), or we could have a pvp clan from the start and just deal with griefing as we level. The second is my personal choice, since pvp should be part of any mmo, they just aren't exciting otherwise.

A third and more interesting option is to be carebear until a significant number of people in the clan are high level, and then switch to pvp (create a new clan and abandon the old?) since then we would have enough power to command respect.

PvP in TR is carebear enough as it is. It's still entirely consensual even if you're a PvP Clan. All being a PvP Clan means is that you can declare war on other clans... that's it. Only when you declare war are you open game to the clans you're at war with, and vice versa. And of course, when you're tired of war you just surrender (or I believe there's a time limit - details are forthcoming).

What Gloop is referring to as the "3rd option," is really just being a PvP clan and simply not declaring war on anyone until we're comfortable. Obviously, war is a touchy thing and shouldnt be taken on lightly. We'd have practices and training of course before engaging any other clans in war.

To me, PvP is really where the crux of a LOT of TR's current content lies. I'm not willing to sacrifice it just to be completely PvE. PvP is really PvE anyways, with a twist.

Plus, being a PvP Clan affords you more clan tracking/statistics along with rewards you can earn, etc. For a game that people are a bit worried about initial content, obviously being PvP takes up the slack in a nice way.

Having 2 clans is not a bad idea since we've already got a common teamspeak channel and forums... not to mention we've got a completely customizable chat system in-game. What's nice about TR is we can have the Clans on the same server... there are no separate servers in regards to PvP/PvE.

We've got a few weeks before we have to decide really. There's another patch scheduled for next week that will hopefully have PvP content added, then we'll know more details. Ultimately, TG is really a community not a singular guild... we could conceivably have many clans/squads under the TG banner. Although it IS nice to consolidate, especially in a game where we dont really have THAT many people playing as of yet.

TR is SUCH a flexible game that we can really do whatever the heck we want aside from just PKing people.

Not that I'll likely be playing TR once it's released, just wanted to throw my comment out here for the general opinion.

I've never really understood why people insist every MMO has PvP, but that's a battle I've already lost. However, PvP seems even more out of place than usual in the setting of TR. Here we have humanity basically in a giant war for their own survival against aliens... and suddenly the humans are going to start fighting themselves? Seems quite odd, if nothing else.

Since we're getting close to launch day, I think we should start firming up who's going to be playing so we can hit the ground running that first weekend.

I've just pre-ordered, so I'm in.

Only angst left is the freaking name scramble once the servers go live. (always have had a love/hate feeling towards dedicated names.)

Hopefully, we'll have a forum up and running pretty soon for the Clan (a few of us have sent Apo PMs on the matter).

I'm gonna work on an SOP and maybe some fancy TR banners for the forum, along with rank structure and maybe some basic class guides (stolen from other sites of course). If anyone else wants to submit some stuff, please... by all means. I dont have to be the only one playing with this.

Also, we'll need a clan leader. It aint gonna be me So those interested be prepared to throw your name into the hat. I'll start it up if need-be, but I'll be largely afk from Feb. to April and traveling every once and a while in-between. (heh, you never know... the game might not even survive that long with so many other games coming out early next year).
