Actually my experience wasn't singular. Gabe from Penny Arcade had the same experience. Basically if you didn't preorder you didn't get a copy. Their way of punishing you for not preordering in the first place, so no I will not be sponsoring Gamestop or EB games with my dollar ever again. This my friends is bulls**t, and I'm not putting up with it.

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Released...

when a game as popular as COD4 comes out, youd be silly not to pre order as they usually only get enough for the pre orders, THEN the next shipment is for the non pre-oreders. Thats how its always been for high profile games.

They use pre orders to gage how many copies to have in stock, that's all it's for, plus they like reaping the interest on your investments. I think any business model which says carry only two copies in one store when you have only two preorders is incredibly stupid, and flawed.

Until they fix their failed business model, I'm not gonna inconvenience myself.

The Best Buy I work at had plenty copies for every platform and it isn't like we didn't have much demand...

I for one am pretty good with a controller. Saying something like that is like saying since you prefer the color blue, and since you do blue must be the color of choice. Green sucks and everyone better accept it.

I'm sorry but that's arrogance. And that doesn't answer my question as to whether consoles can play with PCs.
It isn't arrogant. The mouse is a far more precise pointer system then the joystick on a controller.

This game looks amazing, but i don't know how well it will stand up to the likes of Crysis with all its CryEngine splendor. I know their are different in alot of ways , I'm just wondering how comparable it will be to Crysis when it does come out.

crysis multiplayer was not that great in my opinion....I have a hunch that COD4 will be much more populated after a month

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Released...

So bring me up to speed gents. I downloaded and played the beginning of the SP demo this morning and am loving it. I'm actually pretty amazed at how good it looks on my machine (2.4Ghz, 1GB RAM, 7800GS) and I just let it use the "optimal" option.

So is the final SP just as good performance-wise? I'm assuming so.

And, my BIG question: MP. Can I assume it will look as good in MP as it does in SP? Is there in-game VOIP? What types of MP? Co-Op? Team vs Team? How many players max will TG be supporting?

I know, some of the above can be answered with a quick search, but I gotta run and hope to get all of my answers in one reply. We have a new baby in the house so my forum time is very limited at the moment.

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Released...

DA if you can play the demo on optimal you are gonna be able to play the game. MP and SP look about the same, amazing. Ive got the same setup, minus the GPU, which i have a 6800gt. And i can run it at 1024x768 and it looks great, minor lag in areas but it looks good. There is ingame voip, works better then most. It has many different MP game styles, if you like capture the flag you will like what we will be running. Not sure on teh max number of server but it will be plenty i have a feeling.

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Released...

I'm not 100% sure that the console is the same as the PC version, but their are a ton of game modes, tons of unlocks, and if that's not enough you can sacrifice playing for experience for a private match which you can change all the rules of.

Re: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Released...

the 360 and the PC is exactly the same...except a few things... no achievements in the PC version, and in the console version they misspell cuss words in the sub-titles but do say the words in game.

the missions, SP campaign, MP maps and modes, are all exactly the same...

I know, I have both and playing both.

just FYI.
