S2 Games Launches Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
S2 Games Launches Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
Sequel to the Critically Acclaimed Savage: The Battle for Newerth. Available for Download at S2Games.com (Rohnert Park, CA) – January 16, 2008 – Independent game developer S2 Games announced today that the highly anticipated PC title Savage 2: A Tortured Soul is now available. Refining and building upon the game design that made the critically acclaimed first title a huge success, Savage 2 incorporates elements of first-person shooter, real-time strategy, and role-playing game. Savage 2 is available exclusively online via download and carries a one-time price of $29.99. Savage 2: A Tortured Soul is a fast paced multiplayer action title that takes team based game play to another level. Each match is a war for dominance where two teams of 5 to 17 players from two factions, beast or humans, attempt to destroy each other. It will take more than guns to finish the job. Players can choose from an array of units each with ranged, melee, and special abilities. To close the deal and seal the enemy’s fate, players can take control of the ultimate siege units like the Behemoth or the Battering Ram used to destroy enemy buildings or even resurrect a burning demonic Hellbourne. For the more strategic player, each team has one commander who overlooks the battlefield and manages construction, research, and issues commands for strategic assaults. Savage 2 is free to download and new players can sign up for a demo account with 5 hours of online play. With the free client, gamers have access to several features including playing the offline single player tutorial, unlimited LAN play, and access to the comprehensive replay database that catalogues each and every game. Players who enjoy the game can simply upgrade through the game client or from the official website and will gain access to unlimited online play, full clan support through the Savage Clan League, ability to use persistent items and more. “The development of Savage 2 has been a labor of love,” said Marc DeForest, co-founder and lead designer of S2 Games. “The fans have been anxiously waiting and their support has kept us working tirelessly to make sure the game lives up to their and our expectations. We can’t wait for gamers to enter the battlefield and test their skills in this truly unique game.” For more information on Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, please visit http://savage2.s2games.com. About Savage 2: A Tortured Soul Savage 2: A Tortured Soul is the sequel to the critically acclaimed online multiplayer game Savage: A Battle for Newerth, which introduced gamers to the completely new Real Time Strategy Shooter (RTSS) gaming genre. Savage enabled players to opt for either the fast-paced, run-and-gun action of a first-person shooter (FPS) game – playing as a Warrior – or the more cerebral and tactical planning of a real-time strategy (RTS) game – playing as a Commander – working together as a team to defeat the enemy. Savage 2: A Tortured Soul builds upon the addicting, fast-paced gameplay of the original with additional squad-based features and enhanced role-playing game (RPG) elements which enable players to build their character level and abilities throughout the game. About S2 Games The core S2 Games team is an experienced group of developers from diverse backgrounds, including film, fine art, computer science and business. Through this mix of skill and experience, a synergy is born creating a fresh perspective in game design. The mission of the S2 Games team is to create the next level of multiplayer gaming. Re: S2 Games Launches Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
I played the original which is part of what brought me here to TG. I loved the original like any other public server, if you don't have teamwork players it can get old fast. It had a great mix of RTS and FPS.

The were talking about this on the GFW podcast today, and it sounds pretty sweet. I was having trouble wrapping my head around the concept based on the press release, but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

It is a pretty good time, although I am sure if played the "TG" way it could be better. I think I scared a few people when I was attempting to use voip.

Re: S2 Games Launches Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
I'm playing this now - somehow, miraculously, I have it running on my laptop. Doesn't look great but it plays. I'm hoping there will be more TG interest in this one. Right now though, only about 150 people are playing at prime time.

Re: S2 Games Launches Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
I played around with the tutorial, but haven't had a chance to get online with it. Once again, it doesn't look like this game is going to catch on at TG.

Re: S2 Games Launches Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
I'll probably pick it up when I'm back in my house and build a gaming rig. That will be a few months though.

Re: S2 Games Launches Savage 2: A Tortured Soul
Be warned, from the forums I've looked through it seems quite a few people who bought it through steam have been unable to get the game to work (including me, of course). By all means try the demo, but it might be a good idea to wait a month or so for them to fix the problems before purchasing it.
