Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword
Strategy Fans Rejoice...It Lives!
Civilization IV is alive and well here at TG!
Currently being played is the Warlords based, TG: A City Too Far. Please see the first message in that topic for an idea of the game format that we are using. PTBS, or Pitboss as it is called, is ideal for the casual gamer since you can do your turn at any point during a 24 hour period. That does make the game go for a long time as a result but this gives plenty of time to do diplomacy and strategic planning!
It also makes the game very friendly for players across all time zones.
Coming up in March will be the sign up for a Beyond The Sword PTBS game! We are currently discussing game format and everyone is welcome to participate:

It would be great to get a full 18 person field in this game. If you have any questions, please PM Bernout.Last edited by Bernout; 03-03-2008 at 01:45 AM.

Re: Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword
I'll keep my eye on this, I haven't purchased BTS yet, but I might pick it up to participate in this. Far warning though, I'm not that great yet.

Re: Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword
That's not a problem. But that does remind me I forgot to mention the fact that I posted a Multiplayer Primer in response to someone else who had asked for some help. But the best thing is just to pick up the expansion and get a game or two of single player under your belt.
BTS certainly seems to be far more popular than Warlords was but they haven't added so much to make it a huge learning curve. Definitely worth getting IMO.

Re: Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword
I can't get my BTS install to work, keeps crashing to desktop.
Also, when would this game finish? I leave for basic in May.

Re: Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword
I think it is safe to say it won't be finished by May.
Just as a reference, the current game has been running since October so we're headed into month 5 with 9 of 12 players left. This is why it is very useful to have someone arranged ahead of time who can sub for you as needed. I suppose in your case you could have someone just take it over but not sure if 2 months of play would be worth it.
