ArmA Update
What sounds great and has been much anticipated for almost a year and a half? That’s right folks the recent patch to BI (Bohemia Interactive) Armed Assault has fixed the VON (Voice Over Network) issue. Over the past year or so we have been using TeamSpeak in an attempt to properly communicate with each other while playing this fantastic game, but it is limited and it distracted from the game itself. We have also struggled to support Vista 64 as well as several memory issues, but no longer!!
As a result of the recent patch, the TG CoOp server has jumped tremendously in activity. We were averaging a paltry 6-10 per mission, where as lately we have about 25 people in-game at night. The server ranking has sky rocketed to be ranked in the top 30 worldwide.
Here is a list of major fixes in the game that has jump started the server:Patch 1.11 Highlights - Fixed compatibility issues with Vista x64 platform
- Voice over net and multiplayer related fixes and improvements
- Fixed Out Of Memory problems caused by exhausting 32b virtual address space
- Significant optimizations with large view distances
- AI bridge pathfinding much improved (they can move better)
- Fixed some bugs in the AI target recognition both visually and aurally
- Improved airplane turn dynamics simulation
- Fixed clipping issues with 16:9 or TrippleHead displays
If you are one of those that have still not updated the version of your ArmA yet, just follow the directions on the following link from BI to get updated today!!
Now for those of you who have not experienced the ultimate in a gaming simulation, Steam now offers ArmA for download for only $29.95. One simple click and you could be on line with the rest of us in minutes!!
Stop by and check us out tonight-
We will see you on-line..

Re: ArmA Update
Is this just the beta or did they release an actual patch?
---edit---
Ah, you got my hopes up, still beta.
Certainly better than the previous beta patch.... but those guys at BI are still beta testing a game they sold me last year :|

The beta patch is a fantastic improvement. You won't regret installing it.

Re: ArmA Update
They use the term "beta" for basically all the patches that have come out. So I would not get too wrapped up much with that. The point to remember is that it works!! Albeit it a bit late...

Re: ArmA Update
I saw the huge jump in numbers the other day looking at game monitor graphs. Makes me think I am missing out on some fun.
32 players the other night! wow. Far cry from the 4-6 I occasionally see.
Is this game available as a download anywhere?

Re: ArmA Update
Yeah. You can get it through steam the cheapest I believe. But it's also available through atari.com (recommended) and d2d.com

The patch also works with the Direct2Drive version, which is also priced at $29.95.

I don't think you understand what "beta" means with regards to a patch. The game is finalized, but it's being patched to address normal issues that games have. A patch is created, and the patch becomes a mini-product - it must be tested before being released, and that's called "beta testing". The patch being at beta status does not mean that the game is at beta status.
It's a common misunderstanding.

Re: ArmA Update
Ah... I was operating under the common understanding that when I buy software/games the features on the outside of the box would work when they sell me the product, not a year later. Probably another common misunderstanding.

Easy to claim, harder to back up. Do you have any examples of features that were, as you quote, "on the box", and weren't present in the initial release?
