MMRPG in development using Source Engine
Smiling Gator Productions ( neat name ) has licensed the Source engine in their efforts to build Twilight War: After the Fall, a new MMRPG that "you want to be a part of."
Citing its "combat system, physics, and advanced AI," they see Source as "designed for the creation of games from all genres," which is interesting to me as I can't help but think of first-person shooters when I think of Source (or Valve in general, really). They also seem pleased with the support their company has received from Valve, so perhaps we'll hear of more companies choosing this engine, especially small ones with big plans.
I'm interested to see what, besides an overrated Counter-Strike face lift, this new engine can offer online gaming.

Hmmm, link's dead... Anyway, after playing World of Warcraft, I see less and less differences between RPGs and FPSs. Blizzard's game engines are getting closer and closer to being first person. It's only a matter of time until they release a MMFPSRPG...

it isnt "just a counter-strike facelift" actually... even though they say it's ported, it feels waay different from CS. In a better way too
i'd actually say it was underrated

Re: MMRPG in development using Source Engine
There are a few mmofpsrpg's out there already, I've only played two of em,
Endless Ages - First one ever, I was an in-game Game Master for this game for over a year, but it's got management issues that make it... annoying.
Neocron - Second one, though they wanted to claim to be the first. It's much bigger than Endless Ages in both actual in-game area and in community. But I diddn't get in that one as much.
Planetside could be argued to be a mmofpsrpg... It was a good game for a while.
Last time I heard anything about Endless Ages, I heard that the company that owns Endless Ages (Avaria Corp)'s CEO became a contract worker for Smiling Gator. Probably due to the fact that he already successfully created a mmorpgfps engine.

Re: MMRPG in development using Source Engine
This looks interesting, I'll have to keep an eye on it.
After a little wikipedia investigation, it seems another MMRPG is also in the works for Steam.
This one looks fun too.

Re: MMRPG in development using Source Engine
Yeah but it's not on the Source engine or anything. Plus the original game that this thread is about? Cancelled.
