TG Hosts Project Reality v0.8
After months of developement and countless hours of hard work, the Project Reality team is proud to announce the release of the mod's newest incarnation, version 0.8. With the biggest release so far, the most popular BF2 mod moves away from the original game even more, providing a completely different feeling, for both visuals and gameplay. Are you looking for a realistic modern day war simulator, but aren't feeling ArmA? Do you want teamwork to the max, intense squad-play and an immersive experience? Then this is for you! The idea behind Project Reality The Mod developers aims are to rework the original game engine developed by DICE to create a more realistic combat environment for the gaming community. This includes adjusting various gameplay elements including physics, visual effects and overall game play formats. Along with changes to how the game handles, the PR team has been introducing British and Insurgent factions, plus a number of community assisted factions are currently in the works to introduce Canadian, Russian and IDF forces to the virtual battlefields. "Battlefield is all about fun, action-oriented gameplay. We'll leave the truly realistic experiences to the mod teams who thrive on that type of action." (DICE) “As close to war as you are going to get when it comes to the Battlefield franchise” (TotalBF2.com about Project Reality) So what's new in 0.8? Fresh animations and 3D iron sights! [R-DEV]Chuc has been working hard to re-animate every single weapon in the mod. As a result, Project Reality's weapon handling feels completely different from BF2 and other mods! And instead of the typical 2D layer, as first BF2 mod Project Reality now features real 3D iron sights! Check these examples out: New faction: US Army With 0.8, the US Army enters the battlefield! And be sure that they've brought their tools to kick some ass! New weapons and vehicles! Alot of new infantry weapons have been added to the mod, ranging from scoped Grenadier weapons for conventional forces to bolt-action rifles for the Insurgents! US Army - M4 ACOG - M4 M68 - M4 ironsights - M4 ACOG M203 - M4A1 M68 - M249 Para - M24 USMC - M16A4 ACOG M203 - M249 Para MEC - G3 Hk79 - G3SG 1 - SSGP 1 - RPG-26 Brits - L85A2 SUSAT with AG36 - L86A2 LSW - SA80 Bayonet - Minimi Insurgents - Lee Enfield scope - Lee Enfield ironsights - RKG-3 - New SKS with bayonet - New molotov Some examples: The new vehicles include: US Army - M2A2 - Stryker - New HMMWV - New UH-60 - Apache USMC - New HMMWV - Huey gunship Brits - Stormer HVM - Tornado GR4 China - Su-30mkk Gameplay changes Like every version, 0.8 brings many changes to the gameplay - so many that it would take too much time to list them all here. But allow us to give you an example: - Medic system: The change involves bumping the respawn time to 60 seconds (for now) so the medics have a bigger interval to revive his team members. But wait, no need to panic. When down, the SUICIDE button changes to GIVE UP that the player can click to go from critically wounded to the killed state. The timer is then switched to the normal spawn time of 30 seconds (plus other penalties) minus the time the player has already waited. Game modes The AAS game mode as you know it has been upgraded to AASv3 In this third installment of Advance And Secure, we include random control points. Inspired by the Insurgency game mode, the addition of randomness to a game mode provides great replayablity with different set of objectives each time you play. Of course, it won't be as random as Insurgency, but still adds different takes on several maps. ![]() Operation Barracuda will be the poster boy for this new feature and a few other maps will include random cps in some layers. In addition, there now are Training and Skirmish avaiable as game modes. Maps Considered the most important thing from many players, 0.8 brings a bundle of brand new maps, all eagerly awaited by the community. To name three of them: Muttrah City by [R-DEV]Rhino The biggest city map every created for BF2. Do we need to say more? Korengal Valley by [R-DEV]Coderedfox A highly detailed Afghanistan Insurgency map that features the US Army and the Taliban. Ramiel by [R-CON]OkitaMakoto The US Army assaults an insurgent stronghold and has to fight it's way through the cluttered streets of Ramiel. This is the most I could ask for coming back from traveling, Great list Dirt, but I would like to see Quiling in there if its not to laggy
