Re: Arma Skills competition

Well after a very good and fun first Competition here at TG ArmA for Helicopter skills I have the pleasure in announcing the following!

5 Pilots took up the challenge in front of their peers and several people turned up to watch the events unfold and have passenger rides in the "Chase" Helo.

None of the pilots had chance to fly the course before the game and so it was a great intro to flying a mission with no forewarning and having to get the job done first time! In addition to flying the waypoint course, there was a Tank to be destroyed and following the time trial, flying skills test further by flying a "Littlebird" out of a hangar and back in again!

The Competition Helicopter was an Mi17 "Rockets" Varient
The Chase Helicopter a UH60-FFAR.

So after all this and many gigs of video which will be compiled into a suitable little medley of fun! We found out who can fly under pressure!

The order of flight drawn randomly was:
1: AdeptAbyss
2: Sylerr
3: Naco
4: Jeepo
5: Seeken

The results were as follows:
1: AdeptAbyss - 10 Minute Maximum - Killed the Umpire in a horrible ball of fire having discovered the Mi17 does not pull up well out of high speed attack dives!! FAIL!!

2: Sylerr - 10 Minute Maximum - Not learning from the previous pilot, Sylerr also chose to make his judge and co-pilot a crispy piece of toast following a failed hig speed attack run on the tank (Which was parked in front of the Vallejo Hotel). FAIL!!

3: Naco - Realising the size of the beast that he had to fly, took a calm and mesured approach to his flight - End result: No crashes, No damage and an excellent time of 7m 38 Seconds! A very relieved co-pilot got out to also see him successfully move the LB in and out the hangar with no drama! Well done!

4: Jeepo - The "Norn Iron" Man was confident, but his internet connection was not!! Was this also going to be another firey death! So he took off, hit the first couple of waypoints no problem then arhrghrgrhgrghrg LAGGGGGG!! The co-pilot screaming as the hillside came closer on a turn...NOoooooooo! Fortunately the lag stopped and he continued. Eliminating the target, just about missing the mountain by a foot!!! and returning to base to land safely and fly the LB in and out of the hangar with no time penalties.... His time .... 7m and 26 seconds!!!!!!!!
Well done sir!

5: Seeken - All the pressure was now on Seeken....can he do it...can he make the grade? All started very well, smooth and fast. On reaching the target area, he takes a sensible approach, views his target area and makes his attack run...but wait...no not like that...whoooaaaa thats a bit steep.... and in Top Gun style "pull up now..pull up...more power, we need more power, we need to pull ......." BOOM!!!!!!!! Another one bites the dust!!!
Yet another 10 Minute Maximum time! FAIL!!!

So with great pleasure I announce Jeepo the winner of the competition!

An "Air Cav" ribbon will be on it's way to you shortly! & to think not so long agao you had no ribbons at all!!!!

Well done mate and well done to all the other pilots and spectators....it was great fun and the first of many!

JEEPO will be the first entrant in the "TG ArmA Hall of Fame!"

Congrats!
