Wow!
Looks like it's time for me to put down the MMO and pick up an M4. This looks fantastic!

Re: TG Review of ArmA 2 - London 20/05/09
I'm excited. I trust a TG reviewer to give us a good breakdown. Any idea on how stable it will be at release? I'll go on the record saying that stability isn't one of my chief concerns, in as much as I'm willing to wait a few months if that's what it takes, but it'd be nice to have it ready to go at launch.
So... did you get to fly the Osprey? Does the rotor-wing to fixed wing transition really work?
Oh, and any word on an integrated missile/artillery support, or will we be waiting to here from Mando on that?

Re: TG Review of ArmA 2 - London 20/05/09
VTOL's I want to fly!!! The control systems on actual VTOL's fascinate me after a week I spent trying to damp the oscillations in them, unfortunately when the engines went through to 70 degrees in our first model it fell out of the sky. They had an RAF test pilot in for the simulator and he was quite shocked, haha. I can't wait for this thing.

Re: TG Review of ArmA 2 - London 20/05/09
Oh man oh man, that looks so awesome. Hopefuly they don't release the game too soon and polish up on any bugs. And hopefuly it works on my specs. I have a 2.5 Ghz duo, 2 gigs of DDR3 ram, a Geforce 9600 GT with 1gig of GDDR3 ram with a 256 bit transfer.
oh *drool*

Re: TG Review of ArmA 2 - London 20/05/09
Well... we'll see. The one thing i didn't like about Arma was how big it was. I know that sounds crazy, but...
I played a mission. Team vs team. Only one of our team was a chopper pilot. he starts it up, we all get in. It took about 4 minutesr real time to get there. Fine. But then as we approached the town the other team was defending, i die. Sniper shot from I don't know where. never saw an enemy. So I reappear in the airfield (our spawn). But I'm not a pilot. So I can't fly a helicopter. It is taking forever for our pilot to come back. So I hop in a jeep and start driving. 30 minutes later, I'm still not there. I quit.
I don't mind amission scenario where, when you die, you're out until the end (although Iknow that can be a long time). But respawns in the same mission annoy me. Then respawning Waaaaay far away with no easy/fast way to get back in the action. THAT sucks. And it's a deal breaker for me. So I'm looking forward to this, IF we have a good sized TG group to play it and if I can get in some games. Otherwise, I'll pass.

Re: TG Review of ArmA 2 - London 20/05/09
Frank...some of us have been flying the V22 Osprey in ArmA for over a year mate!
The tiltrotor works perfectly. We ran it for a while in the TG Mod pack before w switched to ACE.
We also now have our own guys in house creating Artillery scripts to call in on request, which work very well. ArmA at TG has come a LONGGGGGG way!....
As to the respawn issue Skylark.......man we need to see you on the servers a lot more in fact that goes for all of you... Take another look at ArmA... we currently have two of the most popular servers in the world and the ACE mod truly transformed the game.
We have many MANY missions being created by our own in-house guys that are truly high quality. Some have respawn, some do not, some have a limited number of "REVIVES", other missions have strict weapon loads or some even now have specific roles with very strict communications usage, i.e. only the radio operator can use the radio to contact command.... ArmA in it's current guise is probably nothing like you remember when you last played.
I would highly recommend that you reload ArmA, check our technical support section to update/patch and download the required mods and then get back into the game so that you are truly ready for ArmA2...the ACE mod is going to be compatible with ArmA2 so learning it's features now will shorten your learning curve!
Regards
BD1

Regarding new admin tools, have you server people looked at the new Battleye cheat protection features?

Anyway, glad to see this great preview on the TG frontsite

Re: TG Review of ArmA 2 - London 20/05/09
It's coming to Europe 19th June!?
Ka-ching!
Great preview, a nice surprise after checking back after a good while. I'm sorry I waited so long!
I hope there'll be a "Farewell" event when we transition from ArmA1 to ArmA2, but hearing about the improvemnts to gameplay, performance and more, I don't see that too far away...

Re: TG Review of ArmA 2 - London 20/05/09
I have feeling that Arma with ACE mod will not die so soon, at least not until ACE arrives to Arma 2
