Thumbs up IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey

    IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey

Our friends at 505 Games have invited any of you avid flight sim fans to take part in the IL-2 Sturmovik: Bird of Prey press launch taking place tomorrow.

    11:00 - 15:00 UK BST – July 15th
    http://twitter.com/IL2BirdsOfPrey

While targeted at the console fans, of which I am sure there are a few here, this event provides you with the opportunity to ask questions and see and hear directly from the games designers themselves on some of the features with the new title.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey is based around the large-scale aerial combat and ground military operations of World War II. Players can participate in some of the war’s most famous battles piloting fighters, battle planes and heavy bombers across a range of thrilling missions. There are five theatres of war to engage in – The Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily and Korsun' representing the main airborne battles of World War II in Europe.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey also boasts an all new damage effects engine as well as advanced environmental visuals enriching the game play. Players can see real time damage to the aircraft such as holes in the wings and trail lines during dog fights. IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey features hundreds of airplanes taking part in air battles. The unique environmental engine also produces highly detailed, realistic landscapes that allow players to see breathtaking ground support actions.

For more information on IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey check the game website: http://www.il2game.com/

We do not currently have a section for this title on the forums, however if demand is strong enough we will look to set one up.

Blackdog don't take me wrong, but saying that a game for Nintendo DS and PSP is a "flight simulator" hurts my feelings

Here is a vid I found showing a little more of the game.

And I thought the scenary in Arma2 was good!

Granted Jorge...it is not a pure flight sim, but I think they are trying to bridge the gap between traditional console flight games and a true sim.

Re: IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey

I have posted lots of info on this game in the console section the TG forums. Check it out if you would like some more information about the game. It has flight stick support and 3 modes. Arcade, realistic and Full simulation.

I have been following it for a long time and have traded threads with Anton Yudintsev who is the Ceo of Gaijin games, the development company making the game. It is published under 1C Company . I will also would be glad to answer any question and also give you links to the 1C forums where Anton gives the answers to many questions. The forum link is here http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/forumdisplay.php?f=132

If you want take the time to digg around this is the place to find the answers.

I can't wait. I've played all of this series at one time or another and I still have the first one installed to tool around in at times.

I'm too lazy, I admit--I'm a bad simmer. I fly on basically arcade settings in IL2. But as I understand it the level of realism can be tweaked quite extensively eg. fuel mix rations, prop angles...yada yada.

Re: IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey

The scenery in this looks great. Heck the whole thing does...

If any of you are up for some IL2 dogfighting action hit me up. I have IL2:1946 installed. Patched to 4.08.

Btw, for those of you without IL2, you should really give it a go! It's a blast. Also only 10 bucks in the bargain bin!

    In the pursuit of... something.
