Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Dated For Launch In March 2010

The highly anticipated addition to EA/DICE's Battlefield series, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, is currently set with a March 2010 launch date. Bad Company 1 was initially released on June 28th of last year for consoles only. The game featured many improvements to the preceding Battlefield games including destructible environments; all of this was made possible for DICE's “Bleed Edge” engine FrostBite.

Bad Company 2 is working off the success of the first one while at the same time, EA/DICE listened to the comments of its fans and is not only making a console version but a PC version. Bad Company 2 is the first Battlefield game for the PC that will use the FrostBite engine; as such the game will offer many improvements to fans of the other popular PC Battlefield games. The game will be way ahead of what Battlefield fans are used to. DICE has made huge improvements to the destructible scenery and in general game play. Hopefully, these additions will add yet another tactical element to the game as players can now blow hole through walls and entire buildings to create new lines of fire. Kit customization is also improved. According to an IGN article, there are over 200 weapon customization options inside of four kits, assault, recon, engineer, and medic. Thus if you wanted to have a engineer with extra armor and a red dot sight, you could. Like Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142, there is a 50 rank player ladder for people to climb and an extensive awards system. IGN states that there are 40 different pins for in-round accomplishments, 228 stars rank you on each weapon, and 40 insignias for long-term game goals.

BF3, this is not, but good nonetheless that frostbite finally comes to the PC.

Anxiously awaiting news on modding for this game, as well as a multiplayer demo for PC, all previous BF series games had very nice demos to try before we buy

Maybe I missed the article, but no where could I find any official mention of 32 players limit. I could very well have missed something. So I justs didn't say a thing.

I too hope that a demo will come. That would be the ultimate way to see what it's really like. As you said, 2142 and BF2 had pretty good demos.

Oh, wow, that looks sweet. Let's hope it has all the goodness of BF2 but is better in most every way. Until then, it will be MW2.

We don't know for sure what the max player count will be. I will reserve judgment until I play it.

I know the feeling. Hopefully, it will be better...just a bit...than some of the others.
