Back on the Battlefield - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Resign Goes Gold
OPERATION FLASHPOINT®: DRAGON RISING GOES GOLD,
FIRE TEAMS ENGAGE FROM OCTOBER 6th.
Explosive new gameplay video at www.flashpointgame.com reveals 'Eagle Offense' mission's deadly airfield assault
Thursday 24th September... Set to deliver an intense, immersive and visceral military sandbox gaming experience, Codemasters today announced that Operation Flashpoint®: Dragon Rising™ has gone gold and will be available from October 6th (US) / 8th (PAL) / 9th (UK) for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC.
Gamers can today see the most explosive moments taken from Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising’s ‘Eagle Offense’ mission in a new preview video, now showing at www.flashpointgame.com. The trailer reveals how a strategically vital airfield is turned into a bloody, chaotic battleground as a USMC force, accompanied by aerial support, assaults dug in PLA positions.
The violence, ferocity and carnage of war is brought to life as troops on both sides attack in authentic formations, use cover realistically and engage in ranged, close-quarters and vehicular combat. USMC forces fight through the airfield’s perimeter before infiltrating the Control Tower, eliminating enemy targets with rapid, ruthless aggression. The Marines then assume defensive positions in readiness for the PLA counter-attack. A Chinese WZ-10 attack helicopter is spectacularly blown out of the sky by a shoulder-launched surface to air missile, before the conflict culminates with PLA armour advancing across a battlefield surrounded by mortar fire and strewn with burning wreckage. This flashpoint is still white hot…
Powered by the award-winning EGO™ Game Technology Engine, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will set the standard for accessible, authentic war gaming. Preview the intensity of modern conflict in the new ‘Eagle Offense’ mission video, now showing at www.flashpointgame.com. Re: Back on the Battlefield - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Resign Goes Gold
Boring! lol. Flashpoint looks like it might be fun to play, but you can bet it will not be able to give the same scale of battle you can achieve in ArmA 2.
EDIT..
Yep, watched video. That sure is small scale. There was only 1 USMC APC, 1 humvee, like 1 squad. Enemy probably only consisted of like 20 men.Last edited by GeneralCarver; 09-25-2009 at 09:59 AM. Reason: After watching the video..

Re: Back on the Battlefield - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Resign Goes Gold
A simple "I don't think I'll be buying this game, it didn't really live up to my expectations" would have sufficed. You didn't need to completely flame the game you Arma Fan-boy... Some of us in the community have been anticipating the release of this game since last year, so we take it a little personally when you blatantly berate it, especially when it hasn't even been released yet...
Maturity is one of the requisites of this forum...

Unless you are upgrading your whole computer cpu, mobo and gpu. It probably won't even be that much.
Heck, if you get the new intel chips ,i5 I believe, they pound on the phenom X4 and are at the same price. Now you can save that cash buy some extra ram, get your mobo and probably the new radeon card for under or around $800.

There will be helicopters only. It has been confirmed on the OFP2 forums that there are no jets.

Re: Back on the Battlefield - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Resign Goes Gold
We'll have an an announcement and overview/preview up soon, but here's a quick taste:
- 3 gamplay modes: MP, SP, and 4-player campaign (coop, where you all can save and rejoin)
- Various difficulty settings including 'hardcore' (see video below)
- no health-points or healing (though you can stop bleeding)
- built in VOIP
- MP has 32 players max
- Gameplay previews look like a cross of PR and CoD4... but played out on an absolutely huge, ArmA-style, 220km2 island.
- Environment is supposed to be critical 'character' in the game, and accurate vegetation, sunrises/sunsets, etc..
- Vehicles that require multiple players to operate
