The TG Community Explodes Into Conflict
The TG Community Explodes Into Conflict
Thanks to Eavy Gunner for this write up
What if the Soviet Union hadn't collapsed and instead made a decisive advance into Europe?NATO forces clash with the Red Army and a second front is opened up as the Soviets launch an attack on continental United States. You will find yourself taking on the role of a commander in the epic conflict, controlling the most powerful and technologically advanced military hardware of the time.
World in Conflict, is an RTS game developed by Massive entertainment, is an RTS which takes a radical step away from traditional RTS games such as Age of Empires or Empire Earth, and instead replaces the wood gathering goblin with an automatic refresh rate. The result? More carnage. Your reinforcement points replenish quickly over time, meaning lost units can be replaced almost instantly. To add to the carnage, "Tactical Aid", a system where dealing damage to the enemy builds up this meter. Different Tactical Aid strikes range from a strafing run from an A-10 to a 155m Artillery strikes, and to finish off with, a tactical nuclear strike.
The game itself takes inspiration from First person shooters, with W-A-S-D controls to move around, and a game mode similar to Conquest in Bf2, this game is simple to grasp, but hard to master. Each player doesn't control an Army but rather a company, whether it be Armour, Air, Infantry or Support. The multiplayer is based on a rock-paper-scissors principle, with all the roles having to work together for maximum effectiveness to dominate the Battlefield. Whether your a Blitzkreig rush, Mechanized infantry lover or Air Assault, World in Conflict can accomadate your play style.
World in Conflict is set in 1989, with the collapse of the Soviet Union imminent, but instead of going out with a whimper, she goes out with a bang, launching an invasion of Europe and a suprise attack on Seattle. The single player campaign places you in the midst of the fighting in Europe and America, trying to drive back the Soviet Assault. The single player campaign spams 14 missions (20 if you buy the Soviet Assault edition) and buy itself is very good value for money. The most beautiful part of the single player missions is the cinematic cutscene's. The amount of detail in them is breathtaking

Most good retailers will now sell World in Conflict for about $20 (£10), and is very easy to find off the shelf.

Re: The TG Community Explodes Into Conflict
i have the game, had it for a while... the tactical aid is really smile-worthy! from the small mortasr strike to the Daisy Cutter MOAB you get carpet bomb runs and if not enough... da NUKE! units are easy to control and relatively smart...most unit gets a Offensive special bonus (like AT missiles) and defensive bonus (smoke screens)

Re: The TG Community Explodes Into Conflict
I was hoping that the online players could band together. If enough interest is gathered, a revival might be possible.

Re: The TG Community Explodes Into Conflict
I know I'm seriously thinking about purchasing this game. I had a blast with the multiplayer demo and I reinstalled the demo just the other day to revisit the game. Definitly a fun RTS to play with TG members.

Re: The TG Community Explodes Into Conflict
You might want to add at the top of the article that WiC Gold is only $5 bucks of D2D this week. I just picked it up for the first time, and I'm sure lots more would if they knew how cheap it is.

Re: The TG Community Explodes Into Conflict
Sorry I didn't return last night, my wife wanted to play some Lego Batman on the playstation with me.
I was looking at the manual for this, and it says there's a "Few Player Mode" you can do in cases where you have a game like we had last night. It gets rid of the role system and lets you access all the units from reinforcements. Might be an idea to try that the next time we play.
Cheers, see you around."No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.
