Bad Company 2 PC beta in December and multiplayer demo in early 2010
Bad Company 2 PC beta in December and multiplayer demo in early 2010. Scheduled for release for the 2nd march US and 5th march Euro
From The Battlefield Blog
EA/DICE posted this regarding the Upcoming addition to its popular Battlefield franchise.
Quote:
"Coming December, we will invite players to participate in a PC open beta. Then, early next year, all players worldwide will get to experience this premier shooter when we releases a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer DEMO on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC."
|
Please note: As of today there is no official Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta and EA/DICE wants to warn people out there of fake/hoax sites perpetrating to have a sign-up for one. So, unless you read it here or from the official battlefield Twitter page it isn't real.
Hopefully some members of TG can get in on the beta of Bad Company 2. EA/DICE has been making some great moves to remove the fears of the PC community generated by the recent MW2 server announcment and subsequent boycott. The Multiplayer demo will be the final piece as to the game acceptance here at TG as it will hopefully confirm the numbers of players in multiplayer modes. The TG Battlefield community has expressed a concern over some reports of low player counts although nothing from DICE has explicitly confirmed or denied any such reports. Personally, I believe it will be higher from news I've gleaned from EA/DICE blog posts and comments. Only time will tell.
Over all, this comes as great news for battlefield fans at TG. At long last, we will be getting our hands on a long awaited addition to the battlefield franchise.

They key words in that artical are OPEN beta. What this tells me is that is probably going to be like 90% of EA's beta's. You go to the site and put info in and your done. They might have restricted keys but normally that lasts for about a week or 2, then they open it up to pretty much anyone that wants it. Odds are also that for the PC version, it will be like the PS3 beta. You get the key if you pre order.
On a semi related note, its more of a demo, but they just slap the name beta on it so people cant complain about bugs.

I seem to remember that for the 2142 beta, fileplanet paying members had access for 1-2 weeks and then everyone was in

Awesome, will it be using dx10 or dx9 because thats the console limit.
It'd be good to see bf using HDR which can really make a difference to games, maps in the night or changing daylight or weather even
I wonder if its the stock frostbite engine or enhanced a bit like they kept doing with the bf engine currently used

Luckily, I was able to get in on the original bad company beta for Xbox360 Multiplayer and I played it to death. It had its problems, like any beta, but was a ton of fun. I am really excited to get a bit of FrostBite on the PC!!! This is cool news.

Last I heard it was looking like a 12v12 or 24 player cap... What are you leaning towards...

Re: Bad Company 2 PC beta in December and multiplayer demo in early 2010
From the comments I have heard from developer blogs I'm leaning towards a bit higher player caps. Again, nothing black and white has been said, but from an article I read the lead dev said that the game would be more than just a console port to PC. It was gonna have some major code changes. That's why I'm cautiously holding out hope for 48 or more.

Yeah I understand nothing is official until the games ships...
Well here's hoping you're right.

I have read articles where people have said the CONSOLE version will have 24, but no where was it mentioned that PC would have the same. Nowhere that I found anyway.

From what I've heard the player count is 16v16, IE 32 players. A bit disappointing if you ask me but it may still work well.

In fact, I cannot find anything from the developers on PC player counts.
